Job Description:

Develops, evaluates, revises, and applies technical quality assurance protocols/methods to inspect and test in-process raw materials, production equipment, and finished products. Ensures activities and items are in compliance with both company quality assurance standards and applicable government regulations. Performs analysis and identifies trends in the inspection of finished products, in-process materials and bulk raw materials, and recommends corrective actions when necessary. Ensures that established manufacturing inspection, sampling and statistical process control procedures are followed. May assure compliance to in-house and/or external specifications and standards, such as GMPs and ISO regulations. Evaluates and analyzes the efforts in organizing, documenting, and interpreting inspection support documents and records.

Minimum Required Skills and

Knowledge:
  • Proficient in utilizing business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired.

Typical Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.

  • Little or no experience.

The Supplier Quality Engineer plays a critical role in making Varian the #1 Medical Device Manufacture in the world. You will interface directly with development and supplier engineering to provide materials and components for our life saving devices. You will communicate product specifications to suppliers and assesses supplier's ability to meet engineering and quality requirements. Additional duties to include: * Evaluates suppliers' internal functions to assess their overall performance and provides feedback in assessment of their operation. * Qualifies suppliers according to company standards and may administer a Certified Supplier Program in receiving inspection to ensure cost effectiveness. * Monitors parts from acquisition through the manufacturing cycle and communicates and resolves supplier-related problems as they occur. * Develops and prioritizes an auditing schedule to ensure that designated suppliers are audited on a regular basis to ensure good manufacturing practices (GMP) and quality standards are met. * Perform his/her assignments independently by applying Good Manufacturing Practices in all areas of responsibility to ensure our customers receive the highest possible quality products. * Manage the supplier quality activities for assigned suppliers. Extensively interacts with suppliers and cross functional partners, NPI team, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain to resolve supplier quality issues. * Ensures that suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services. * Qualifies suppliers according to company standards. * Monitors supplier provided parts quality performance through Varian incoming inspection and manufacturing processes and takes appropriate action. * Communicates and resolves supplier-related issues through the Non-Conforming Material process and when required the Supplier Corrective Action process. * Lead Auditor for supplier audits to ensure supplier meets Intl Quality Management Systems standards and Varian Requirements * Maintains key supplier performance metrics and monitors suppliers * Evaluates suppliers' internal functions to assess their overall performance and provides feedback and drives improvements. * Provides technical support to incoming inspection personnel relating to first article inspection, sampling, and inspection plans * May be assigned to action items related to CAPA's or NCR's Requirements: * Bachelor's Degree, applicable certification or equivalent experience required * 2-4 years related experience in the medical device industry preferred * Ability to prioritizes tasks to meet commitments * Routinely suggests process improvements * Utilizes basic negotiation, influencing, and conflict management skills. * Serves as a mentor to others * Supports an environment of changing priorities * Good written and verbal communication * Good organizational skills We're unleashing the power of technology and human ingenuity to achieve new victories in the fight against cancer.
