SUMMARY

The Quality Engineer is responsible for facilitating and supporting the creation of repeatable, reliable processes which lead to the reduction/removal of defects throughout the value stream

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote the expectation that team members will consider the impact of their work/actions on others and make deliberate decisions to act in ways which prevent rework or constraints on the process. The Quality Engineer is a leader in this regard.

  • Facilitate creation of systems and processes which enhance the team's ability to meet customer expectations (identification of standards, creating of buy/sell agreements, audit

processes, etc.)

  • Provide leadership in Root Cause Analysis, Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Production Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Practical Problem Solving, etc.

  • Act as mediator when needed to clarify customer expectations or interpret standards

  • Prepare formal programs for dissemination to the team

  • Collaborate with Design and Manufacturing Engineering to prepare gauges and determine inspection frequencies

  • Work with operations and materials leadership to develop repeatable, reliable

processes

  • Perform data entry, analysis and sharing/explanation of same

  • Design, review and interpret reports

  • Perform audits of new and existing processes

  • Document writing, control and management

  • Initiate non-conforming material documents for supplier quality issues

  • Assist in the execution of activities which promote continuous improvement and protect customers

  • Conduct training, information sharing and orientation sessions

  • Lead by example regarding safety and acting in the best interests of the team

  • Provide coverage for other technicians as needed

  • Act as the Quality Manager in their absence

  • Any other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Superior leadership ability in the development and implementation of quality systems

  • Knowledge of/ability to acquire a thorough understanding of customer expectations and regulatory requirements

  • Team oriented

  • Excellent attendance

  • Positive attitude

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Ability to read relevant measuring equipment

  • Provide appropriate feedback and documentation of any defects

  • Strong and consistent attention to detail

  • Self-motivated with the ability to stay on task

  • Prior quality experience, preferred

Able to:

  • Read and understand Engineering documents such as part prints, assembly drawings o Work overtime on short notice

Be willing to:

  • Learn and rotate within all quality areas Improve self / area / company (including pursuing additional training, if needed)
  • Develop a working knowledge of Utilimasters systems (example: AS/400, Sparcon)

WE OFFER A GENEROUS SUITE OF BENEFITS WHICH INCLUDE: * Medical * Dental * Vision * Flexible Spending Account * Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment * Short Term Disability * Long Term Disability * 401(k) * Tuition Reimbursement * Employee Stock Purchase Program * Dependent Scholarships * Quarterly Bonus * Holiday Pay * Vacation Pay * Purchased Vacation * Employee Assistance Program Summary The Quality Engineer is responsible for performing and supporting various quality assurance and quality control activities to support: * Promoting and sustaining the Quality Management System * Training and Coaching associates on various processes including problem solving * Leading and Facilitating the effective implementation of robust Quality Assurance and Quality Control projects and activities Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Safety and Company Policies: * Practice and promote the company's safety standards and policies * Report potentially unsafe conditions * Uses appropriate tools and PPE * Adhere to the company's code of ethics and policies * Quality Systems: * Facilitate effective process deployment with affected process owners and cross-functional team members * Ensure compliance of processes being developed to the Quality Management System framework (Internal and External requirements) * Manage the timeliness and effectiveness of corrective action plans for non-conformances associated with Internal Audits * Maintain and coordinate activities related to the Document Control System to keep it up to date * Interface with suppliers for problem resolution and cost recovery * Problem Solving: * Analyze Warranty, Customer Complaints and internal quality data to identify trends and champion/facilitate the problem-solving process * Follow, promote and coach associates using structured and data-driven problem-solving methodologies for all aspects of Problem Resolution including Problem Definition, Root Cause Analysis, Corrective and Preventive Actions and Horizontal Deployment * Continuous Quality Improvement: * Lead the cross-functional team in the development of pre-production and production Control Plans * Establish inspection standards / methods for inspection, testing and evaluation and implement the same * Participate in the Supplier Sourcing and Evaluation process by assessing supplier Quality Systems and Supplier Performance * Support company-wide Continuous Improvement initiatives and activities by developing processes, conducting audits, identifying waste elimination / improvement opportunities and participating in kaizen events * Facilitate sharing of Best Practices and Lessons Learned across Functions, Plants and Business units Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
