The Quality Engineer, New Product Introduction works with project management and manufacturing engineers to support new product introductions and ongoing validation.This position reports directly to the Sr. Program Manager, U.S. Regional & PMO Development.

  • Uses quality tools to implement improvements including: process flowcharting, Pareto analysis, correlation and regression analysis, significance tests, design of experiments, statistical process control, gauge repeatability and reproducibility, and trend analysis techniques.
  • Assists the development of essential QMS deliverables/Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) including, but not limited to: complaint analysis, risk analysis, failure mode and effects analysis, CAPA, and process/equipment/software verification / validation
  • Monitors engineering processes and products for adherence to company and regulatory standards and practices. Participates in quality improvement initiatives and projects.
  • Analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and establish quality and reliability objectives for Orchid.
  • Recommends modifications to existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
  • Determines machine and process capabilities and performance reliability by conducting capability studies.
  • Determines criteria for boundary sampling.
  • Conducts special process validations and equipment validations including installation qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ).
  • Reviews drawings to evaluate quality requirements including: correct application of geometric dimensioning and tolerance, proper use of process and material specifications, and key characteristics for inspection plans and gauging techniques.
  • Interfaces with appropriate customer contacts to clarify customer requirements to include cosmetic specifications.
  • Develops inspection criteria that correlate customer requirements and manufacturing processes that include identification of characteristics, sampling plans, and gauging. This also includes the guidance into the control plans and will be the final reviewer for all control plan documentation.
  • Assists suppliers with the interpretation of quality requirements.
  • Lead quality and compliance by utilizing One Orchid global processes and complying with all Quality Management Systems (QMS) documentation requirements and establishing/supporting plan(s) to meet/exceed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Quality that support Safety, Compliance, Six Sigma Quality, On-Time Delivery (OTD) and financial objectives.
  • At least 2 years of engineering experience
  • Experience in medical devices manufacturing preferred
  • Ability to apply logic and reasoning to solve problems, including identifying strengths/weaknesses, locating alternative solutions and conclusions, and approaches to problems; and making high-quality, timely decisions
  • Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques used to create and support an environment that meets the needs of the organization
  • Knowledge and understanding of federal, state and local laws and regulations affecting manufacturing practices and activities
  • Ability to proof read data
  • Knowledge of procedures and tools for scheduling and controlling production runs and assuring quality deliverables
  • Ability to complete customer PPAP information
  • Ability to conduct measurement correlation studies with the customer
  • Ability to create final inspection information
  • Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering or related field required
  • GD&T Certification preferred

A day in the life of a Software Quality Assurance Automation Engineer: The Software Quality Assurance Automation Engineer is responsible for the development of automation frameworks and execution of automation scripts by utilizing a variety of tools and scripting languages to create high quality, reusable automated test scripts for validation of MSUFCU digital and core banking solutions. This includes the various MSUFCU-owned websites, digital banking applications for web & mobile, core banking system, as well as the employee intranet and other internal systems and applications. This is a cross-functional role that works directly with project stakeholders to identify testing criteria and user acceptance requirements, communicating with software developers on complex problems, and implements changes as needed and enabled. This role also communicates test plans and projects to other analysts, designers, developers and presents to project stakeholders. Responsibilities: Software Quality Assurance Automation Engineer I: * Collaborate with the developers, business, and testing teams to identify automation requirements, design automated tests, troubleshoot issues, and implement scalable test automation solutions. * Develop, manage and maintain automation framework that can retain reusable automation test cases and test data to ensure code quality in a continuous integration environment. * Contribute to the development and continued improvements to the automation framework(s) with the goals of building smoke, regression, functional testing; reducing testing time and improving defect identification and continuous integration test coverage. * Prepare test environments in advance of testing and manage testing progress report including defect management. * Capture, analyze and report test results and quality metrics to varied audiences. * Assist in the creation and maintenance of technical documentation for programs and systems created and supported by the Software Development department. * Assist in the orchestration of deployments of all digital and core solutions including validation of testing, integration testing, foster communication of releases, train solution administrators, validate software documentation, and support end user training. * Participate in all aspects of the software quality assurance (QA) process for existing and proposed digital and core banking solutions including * Validating solutions that are created meet acceptance criteria; * Ensuring standards are adhered to; * Validating the testing process has been completed before releasing code; * All development follows the established Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including analysis, design, development, code review, testing, change management, etc. * Collaboratively works with business units, technical teams, and third-party vendors to create testing plans, acceptance criteria, project plans, technical specifications, software diagrams, and technical documentation for new programs that interface with the Credit Union's systems. Software Quality Assurance Automation Engineer II: * Perform all of Level I duties and responsibilities. * Independently lead the analysis and testing of cross-functional IT projects, communicating with stakeholders and other project team members as necessary to understand the essential needs that solutions should fulfill. * Assist in evaluating and maintaining automation tools. * Understand application architecture, then design and implement innovative test automation environment including automation test framework design and development to increase software test coverage, software quality and agile team velocity. * Build automation architecture to enable test driven development and continuous integration. * Develop test automation strategies and approaches that incorporate multiple phases of testing including: unit, system and integration, functional, performance, and regression testing. * Develop and implement a strategy for creating and maintain reusable test data. * Participate in requirement reviews and design spec reviews to contribute quality requirements and ensure testability. * Provide mentorship to other QA Automation Engineers, QA Analysts and other members of the software development team to incorporate automation testing strategies into their work. * Seek out and provide recommendations for test process improvements via automation that support department goals and may increase department productivity and efficiency. * Work directly with other departments to test product changes/introduction. Senior Software Quality Assurance Automation Engineer: * Perform all of Level I & II duties and responsibilities. * Define and oversee the overall automated testing strategy to support a DevOps model and continue to evolve the CI/CD pipeline to ensure enough test coverage from Development, Quality Assurance, and Operations. * Participate in architecture and design reviews and offer thought leadership in driving efficiencies throughout the software development life cycle. * Act as an advocate for quality assurance best practices across the MSUFCU, evangelizing QA and test automation strategies across the organization and our digital and core system product offerings. * Analyze and research enterprise level business problems; design, develop, and/or implement enterprise level business solutions, often to reduce costs or to improve business workflow. * Mentor, support, and offer guidance to coworkers on design, user experience, information architecture, user testing, and department and industry best practices for various projects.
