JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and implementing quality standards under the direction of the Quality Manager.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for promoting and ensuring that quality department employees, and oneself, are prioritizing safety above all else, following all Company safety policies, rules and practices, and contributing to a safe working environment.

  • Train and mentor quality technicians, on all shifts, as required and communicate company standards to Training should include but not be limited to procedures, work instructions & quality documentation. Provide inspection tools needed by quality technicians, track and order supplies and communicate any maintenance needs to departmental manager.

  • Support the quality manager in laboratory testing, analysis and reporting of Sabert and supplied products.

  • Work directly with manufacturing managers, supervisors and employees to improve the quality of their processes. Utilize statistical tools as needed, with an emphasis on driving and improving quality and the quality process.

  • Maintain and calibrate all gauges used by quality techs and train them on their use.

  • Supervise and participate in audits of WIP and finished goods, and record and evaluate results.

  • Maintain and audit compliance to Sabert's food safety (BRC) certification, including HARM/HACCP plans. Conduct necessary follow-up and verification of audit CAPA's. Conduct internal audits against standards.

  • Support the quality manager in management of the supplier and customer complaint process; assure timely response from customers and suppliers on all complaints.

  • Manage the Internal Nonconformance process.

  • Weekly, monthly and other report generation and data collection as required.

  • Establish good relations with your manager, subordinates and other departments by showing and communicating respect, fairness, consistency and accuracy.

  • Responsible for ensuring, where applicable, the product safety, quality, regulatory compliance and legality of all products produced and sold by Sabert.

  • Travel up to 10%.

  • Work may require occasional weekend and off shift work/coverage.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Plant Manager and/or Quality Manager.

Education: BS degree in Science, Engineering, QA or Operations required.

Experience: Minimum two years of Quality experience in a manufacturing plant. Experience in food packaging, paper packaging, ISO, BRC, GFSI, FSC/SFI/PEFC, and Six Sigma preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Fluency with computer software packages and knowledgeable about HACCP, GMP, GLP, etc.

Proficiency In: Statistics, statistical software, SPC charting.

Other Requirements: Must be PC literate and be able to function with all levels of management and customers. Must be able to perform root cause analysis and corrective actions and have analytical and methodical approach to problem solving. Requires a working understanding of quality systems, document control, HACCP principles and be able to lead teams and provide reports. Also, must be familiar with GMP's and Industrial Hygiene
