Position Overview

Accountable for ensuring product/ process integrity through the development and implementation of systems that support vehicle manufacturing and for activities internal/ external related to process development/ qualification/ optimization as well as product/ supplier certification in line with company protocols/ objectives.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities (*identifies Essential Functions)

  • Plan & direct activities pertinent to the development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for manufacturing processes.

  • Lead all activities related to product/ process development (FMEA, PCP, etc.).

  • Lead supplier evaluations & validation, help with supplier audits, and manage Corrective/ Preventive action activities with suppliers, manufacturing, and product development to ensure effective root cause eradication through the use of Proper problem solving tools & techniques, as well as verifying the effectiveness of actions in order to ensure sustainability.

  • Oversee the effectiveness of supplier non-conformance management, including identification, segregation, review & disposition through the appropriate use of available systems like 8D.

  • Create and maintain quality documentation, such as procedures, inspection plans, and work instructions, quality assurance specifications, etc.

  • Support quality control by performing own inspections, ensuring that product and process comply with relevant specifications and requirements (FMVSS, DOT, FTA, White book, etc.).

  • Work with Assembly, Product Development, and Sales to ensure that customer expectations & contract requirements are met.

  • Perform process and incoming inspection.

  • Specify equipment required for measurement and testing.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of quality experience in manufacturing environment.
  • B.S. Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial or equivalent).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Knowledge and understanding of ISO 9001, TS 16949 quality systems.

  • Knowledge of Electro-mechanical, Hydraulics, and Pneumatic systems.

  • Prior auditor experience.

  • Knowledge quality and Continuous improvement tools.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities * Drives a process that focuses on Build in Station Quality . * Prepares the team for thorough inspection of the bus fleet and challenges the organization on continuous improvement * Drives Error Proofing into the Build process * Interfaces with customers and prepares the product to exceed the expectations of the customer * Communicates effectively – especially on difficult matters and handles upset customers with answers and action plans to properly address their needs * Oversee completion of multi-discipline division of work related to pre-commissioning or commissioning on projects. * Responsible for supporting and leading the Commissioning Team on projects. * Proactively manage changes and identifies potential crises'. * Provides multi-discipline input into the scheduling, designing and planning of commissioning process. * Reviews and maintains all multi-discipline commissioning processes to ensure they are compliant with the procedures, specifications and standards of the project. * Ensures that all commissioning procedures follow all appropriate safety practices and procedures. * Participates in all project and company safety programs. * Audits commissioning activities regularly to ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements. * Will maintain and improve the processes of vehicle commissioning relative to the demands of production schedules * Partners with Assembly, Engineering, and Sales to ensure that customers' expectations are met * Assists in the orientation and training of new employees * Provides assistance to department personnel in meeting department and company efficiency standards and employee job performance standards * Provides assistance to operators for rework or quality tasks * Performs assigned job duties with minimal supervision * Responsible to for maintaining 5S compliance * Basic understanding of lean manufacturing concepts and/or extreme willingness to learn * Communicates with Engineering to make sure that all applicable drawings are created in accordance with all commissioning requirements. * Maintain communication within the organization by effectively communication project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion. * Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path. * Responsible for regularly monitoring and reporting commissioning progress. * Makes improvements to and offers advice about operational procedures; * Schedules and co-ordinates work to tight deadlines; * Ensures that equipment works to its specification; * Creates and carries out test procedures; * Investigates problems, diagnoses/repairs faults. * Acts as liaison with installation engineers. * High level of attention to detail with an ability to self-QC work Education and Experience * Associate's Degree in Electrical Systems/Controls or relevant electrical discipline equivalent. Bachelor's degree preferred. * Electrical and Mechanical Engineering background. * 5 years' experience in operation and process design within the automobile industry. * Experience in applying standards, leading a start-up and commissioning team. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * Knowledge of electronics, electronic systems integration, and heavy wiring for vehicle commissioning * Capability in mechanical assembly verification for vehicle commissioning * Must be able to read engineering drawings and prints for vehicle commissioning processes * Operation of required equipment and machines * Maintains quality standards under minimal supervision * Capable to develop, document, and implement quality processes and systems * Capability to learn, understand, and train future employees in commissioning and quality processes * Skilled at quality and commissioning process for vehicle assembly * Skilled at electrical verification tasks * Skilled at mechanical verification tasks * Possesses technical skills for electrical and mechanical assembly operations * Ability to work under pressure with tight schedules; extra hours to meet deadlines. * Possesses good communication and people skills. * Must possess a continuous improvement mindset capable of challenging the status quo and always looking for waste elimination opportunities * Affectively apply risk management tools/logic to various phases of the project * Proactive approach to decision making. * Strong interpersonal skills and strong business acumen * Strong verbal and written communication skills- and a collaborative interpersonal style * Ability to lead people.
