Summary

The primary purpose of this position is for implementing and monitoring the Quality Management System along with developing quality standards and establishing programs for implementing and monitoring Customer and Supplier quality requirements by acting as liaison for problems and concerns. This position will develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation as well as serve as the quality representative for AISC A207-16, ISO 9001:2015, and NTA systems implementation, standardization, and adherence. Along with the representative for other third-party certifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Facilitate AISC A207-16, ISO 9001:2015, and NTA systems implementation, standardization, and adherence.

  • Develop and maintain necessary processes for Quality Management Systems and related documentation.

  • Ensure QMS consistently meets or exceeds requirements.

  • Manage QMS internal audit scheduling, execution and follow-up.

  • Manage QMS certification/surveillance audit scheduling, execution, and follow-up.

  • Manage Company certifications from third-party agencies.

  • Initiate, implement, maintain, and enhance QMS improvements through an active preventative and corrective action system that solves problems at the root to eliminate or minimize risk.

  • Maintain strong communications with internal customers to ensure QMS are meeting requirements and expectations.

  • Assist providing on-the-floor quality support for manufacturing lines/areas in the plant by problem solving issues.

  • Assist with data collection activities and analysis to support problem solving and meeting systemic requirements.

  • Create reports and presentations using Excel and PowerPoint pertaining to quality trends.

  • Assist with Supplier relationships through active communication and timely response to Supplier Quality issues and concerns.

  • Perform analysis thorough data collection to determine root cause of quality issues and verify effectiveness of corrective actions.

  • Maintain open issues list(s) to document quality issues and track progress of action plans and timing to completion.

  • Provide leadership in problem solving and troubleshooting in order to achieve timely resolution to internal quality issues.

  • Assist with continuous improvement in quality key measure performance and customer satisfaction.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Must possess a bachelor's degree or equivalent schooling/work experience in a Quality Engineering role.

  • Minimum of 3 years of quality experience in steel fabrication or erection.

  • Experience with the requirements of AISC is preferred.

Travel

This position requires minimal to no travel

Computer Skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access.

  • Demonstrated proficiency using EPICOR ERP or similar systems.

Other Requirements

  • Must possess strong working knowledge of APQP methodology and be able to create and modify documents (PFMEA, Process Flow).

  • Must have experience performing effective root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions.

  • Proficient in technical writing.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to work in a self-directed environment.

  • Basic blueprint reading skills.

  • Prior customer or supplier interfacing experience.

  • Experience with Calibration Systems

  • Assist in establishing quality policies and objectives.

  • Help specify areas in which quality controls will be established and assures preparation of internal quality procedures.

  • Help specify supplier control requirements and renders assistance to establish control when necessary.

  • Assist to assure efficient and accurate analysis and inspection of materials used in the manufacturing cycle.
