L3 Aviation Products Division (L3 APD), is a leading provider of commercial and military avionics with unsurpassed performance, quality and customer support. L3 APD manufactures a diverse line of safety- and efficiency-enhancing products that set the standard for next-generation requirements, including configurable voice and data recorders, collision avoidance systems, navigation products, display systems and processors.

We are searching for a Quality Engineer who performs a variety of quality-related functions in support of regulatory, customer, and company requirements/objectives.

  • Coordinates/develops/monitors/maintains necessary procedures, controls, and/or programs to assure compliance/conformance to regulatory, customer, and company requirements

  • Perform product quality audits to assure compliance with customer, drawing, internal, and regulatory requirements

  • Perform system audits in support of the Quality/Environmental Management System

  • Coordinate close out of audit findings through, creating audits finding reports and determining proper corrective and preventive actions with the lead auditor

  • Provides liaison activities with customers and suppliers on all quality-related activities

  • Review, identify, implement and maintain Customer Quality flow down requirements

  • Support Operations to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system

  • Review trend analyses related to field returns, manufacturing rejects, supplier history, etc and provide recommendations for improvement

  • Participate in design review activities including inspectability, consistency, adequacy, accuracy, and conformance to customer requirements and provide recommendations for improvement

  • Participate in review of bid and proposal quality clauses and provide compliance matrix

  • Participate in review of customer quality clauses, quality documents and provide compliance matrix

  • Interfaces with all departments at all levels

  • Analyze product and process failures to ensure effective root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions for internal and external customers

  • MRB/ECN Board representation and duties

  • Responsible for participating in continual improvement activities to enhance the quality system, such as 5S, Kaizen lean methods, etc

  • Responsible for performing job duties in a manner consistent with established L-3 Ethics Standards

  • Responsible for working in a manner consistent with established safety rules and regulations

  • Performs job duties in accordance with approved procedures established in support of Sarbanes-Oxley regulations

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Aviation Maintenance/Management (or equivalent discipline), from four-year college or university; or a minimum of four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Knowledge of computer application software, such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ACCESS, etc

  • Knowledge of quality concepts and tools (i.e., six-sigma, TQM, QFD, SPC, SQC, DOE, ANOVA, etc.)

  • Ability to attain and retain FAA Designee authorized functions

  • Knowledge of FAA Regulatory requirements

  • Knowledge of AS9100/AS9110 requirements

We're looking for an entry-level embedded firmware QA Engineer to join our high-profile team. You will be responsible for delivering excellent software products to an international audience! This is a challenging and exciting position where you will conduct testing activities on software development projects within the Software Engineering department. Responsibilities include assisting in the development and execution of test plans, scripts and cases, assisting in the design and implementation of test environments, and the identification and management of issues for each development project. * Under general direction, plans and performs engineering duties for part of a major project or for projects of moderate complexity. * May have some supervisory responsibility and mentoring of other team members. * Acts as technical authority in areas of specialty on assigned projects. * Assists all levels of software/firmware engineers, and project managers with design, testing, prototype building, test data set creation, and other activities related to testing. * Uses established policies and procedures to complete work assignments. * Work assignments are varied and of high scope and complexity. * May be required to use specialized computer applications to perform duties. * Must be extremely adaptive in responding to ad hoc testing issues that arise, and still be able to successfully multi-task and prioritize to meet scheduled testing objectives. * Represent Company in a positive, professional manner when working with both external and internal customers. * Support and adhere to Company's Code of Conduct and Ethics Policy. * Perform other duties as assigned or required. * Create, revise, and execute test plans and test cases * Communicates effectively and works closely with internal and external resources * Provides status reports and participate in departmental and project team meetings and email communications * Identifies testing risks and propose solutions to mitigate * Provides escalations in a timely manner and through the appropriate channels * Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with cross functional team members * Provides input into continually improving quality processes and procedures * Serves as an escalated support resource for products released * Work directly with software developers to ensure requirement implementation/verification correctness and to review test case coverage. * Detect, document, and track system defects throughout the SQA process * Write software defect reports.
