General Description:

Responsible for technical support in the Mechanical and Electrical Quality Assurance departments. Interfaces with customers and suppliers concerning product quality issues and improvements

Duties:

  • Develops and communicates quality standards for new and existing suppliers

  • Provides technical support for Material Review Board (MRB) activities

  • Represent QA for all MRB meetings

  • Perform trend analysis for MRB data and assign corrective action as required

  • Assign and evaluate supplier corrective actions

  • Evaluate potential suppliers for addition to Tyonek AVL. Audit suppliers as needed

  • Review procurement documentation to ensure that all customer requirements have been flowed down to sub-tiers

  • Maintain supplier quality reports and communicate internally and to suppliers as needed

  • Review new customer/award documentation and summarize QA deliverables for communication throughout manufacturing process

  • Provides technical support for internal manufacutring quality issues

  • Represent QA for configuration control review

  • Provide technical support for electrial and mechanical inspection areas including improvements of equipment and processes

  • Assist in the development of new processes and procedures for all of manufacturing

  • Provide support for third party (ISO9001, AS9100, AS9110, NADCAP), customer, and internal quality system audits

  • Review and approve QA customer deliverables (AS9102 reports, first article reports, FMEAs, Control Plans, Certificate of Conformance)

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Extensive experience may be substituted for educatiom

  • 10-15 years of experience in a manufacturing enviornment dealing with electrical and mechancial quality

  • Familiarity with automated inspection equipment such as CMMs and FARO arms plus manual equipment such as calipers, height gages, and micrometers

  • Strong background in quality management system standards such as ISO9001, AS9100, AS9110, and NADCAP

  • Highly skilled at interpreting engineering drawings for both mechanical and electrical products

  • Strong background in AS9102 and first article inspection reports

  • Six Sigma Green Belt a plus

  • Must be able to communicate with all levels of frontline, management, and customers

  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects

  • Solid Works and AutoCAD (CAD/CAM software) experience a plus

  • Proficient with MS Office suite

  • 5S and LEAN manufacturing techniques

  • Ability to travel as needed to customers and suppliers (10-25% of time)

  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day

  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp, or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders

  • May be required to lift up to 25 lbs and carry for short distances

  • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three dimensional depth

  • Normally works in an office setting with controlled temperature

This position will be located in Madison, Alabama and support the Huntsville Manufacturing Center within Mission Assurance, Missile Defense and Protective Systems Division. Roles and Responsibilities: * Inspects, verifies and validates parts and assemblies of mechanical, electrical, structural components or systems meet engineering and program requirements. * Visually and physically inspects installations and rechecks work after rework, adjustment or repair. * Monitors and verifies that product quality is in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and other control procedures. * Reads and interprets blueprints, diagrams, and specifications. * Maintains necessary inspection documentation, writes inspection reports, and enters inspection data and defect information into a computer database. * Frequently interfaces with internal teams across the organization and external customers and contacts. * Participates in team activities and provides expertise and guidance for effective problem-resolution. * Audits processes and activities in accordance with documented procedures. MAQEA Basic Qualification for Level 3: * High School Diploma 4 years of experience or AA degree in related discipline * 4 years of related work experience in the inspection of one or more areas: electrical, mechanical fabricated parts, or cables and assemblies. * Experience with and the ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications. * Experience maintaining necessary inspection documentation, writing inspection reports, and entering inspection data and defect information into a computer database. * Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with stakeholders across the organization and external contacts and customers. * Ability to actively engage in team activities and provide expertise and guidance for effective problem-resolution. * Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions timely and with a high degree of quality. * Advance Computer experience (MS Office/Excel). * Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
