This role is part of the Safety, Quality, & Mission Assurance team. This team is focused on monitoring and assessing processes that guide Blue Origin design, manufacture, and operations, ensuring system safety engineering, environmental health and safety, product integrity and continuous improvement processes serve the Blue Origin Mission and Vision.

As part of a diverse and hardworking team of specialists, you will share in the team's impact on all aspects of developing, testing and launching Space systems to support Blue Origin's Vision. In this role, you will establish, implement, maintain, and enforce quality system processes that support products in development and production test and launch environments.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Approve, perform visual & dimensional inspections

  • Develop continuous improvement activities

  • Develop and conduct compliance surveillance assessments

  • Analyze and report on assembly/test activities and trends

  • Develop actionable metrics to drive sustainable improvement

  • Lead Root Cause Analysis/Corrective Action Board activities

  • Develop quality metrics in accordance with company procedure CMPR-13396

  • Facilitate solving of quality issues with diverse teams, lead causal analysis activities to drive to root cause and corrective action

  • Monitor and assist in the performance of receiving activities

  • Independently review, identify, document non-conformances against hardware, material, and processes

  • Participate test/flight data reviews

  • Participate in all life cycle reviews (TRR, FRR, MRR, and PFDR)

  • Participate in posttest/flight inspection activities

  • Develop and lead Pre-Ship Review activities

  • Support field sites with Quality Engineer activities as required

  • Relevant experience with launch vehicles, rocket engines, aircraft and subassemblies

  • Implement and mature process surveillance activities in accordance with company procedure CMPR-13396

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.S. in engineering

  • 5-8 years relevant experience in the engineering field performing the duties of a Quality Engineer

  • Quality Assurance experience in development and production environments in the areas of aerospace, space launch, military, or commercial aviation

  • Knowledgeable on user documentation, system configuration and assemblies

  • Familiarity performing AS9100 or ISO9001 audits within a Quality Management System

  • Ability to support test and launch operations for nonstandard shift as required

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

  • Quality assurance experience in rocket engine production or test environments

  • Relevant experience in transitioning a product from development, through production, to operations

  • Quality Management System audit experience

  • Six Sigma Green, Black Belt, or comparable certification

  • ASQ CQE
