Job Summary:

As a factory Quality Operations Engineer you will be interfacing with cross functional teams through face to face and teleconferencing interactions in a fast-paced environment with plenty of challenging opportunities. You will be engaging with Manufacturing Engineers, Product Test Engineers, Design Engineers, Production Associates, Management and customers to assure product and process compliance, continuously improve processes, and meet organizational goals. Your knowledge and experience will be valued and contribute to furthering the success of Raytheon Operations Quality.

The Operations Quality Team provides leadership for integration and execution of Quality practices and processes in the factory. We serve as the prime Quality interface with Operations responsible for the guidance and support of Quality and continuous improvement in the factory.

The Quality Operations Engineer is responsible to ensure compliance to the Quality Management System (QMS) requirements, support product lifecycle phases, partner with various program leaders and teams, lead improvement and development activities, and implement functional initiatives.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) input regarding the application of the Quality Management System (QMS)

  • Perform process analysis to identify best practices and apply lessons learned to increase effectiveness of the QMS

  • Working within the Manufacturing Engineering team to assure quality characteristics are designed into production planning

  • Utilize APQP methodology to manage quality-production process

  • Pro-active application of quality tools to drive zero-defect performance

  • Determine and establish inspection planning

  • Perform production process audits

  • Coordination with Supply Chain Management and Supplier Quality regarding the tracking of supplier issues/certifications

  • Facilitation of corrective actions, closed loop process controls and continuous improvement methods

  • Provide analysis and validation of factory or supplier caused factory defects and source inspection data

  • Creation of charts for tracking and reporting quality data product/process predictability and capability

  • Perform product/material inspections (Peer Review, FAI, Prove-in, Test witness)

  • Perform management/control of nonconforming material

  • Work with the operations/production teams in the analysis and path forward for defective material

  • Monitor defect data and maintain feedback to establish/support closed loop actions

  • Compile and/or evaluate quality data (e.g: engineering changes, non-conformances, test problems, test results).

  • Develop/Present quality reports/presentations to program/facility/business management.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)

  • Minimum of (two) 2 years of engineering experience required including either quality engineering or manufacturing engineering

  • Experience with the interpretation of technical drawings

  • Experience with utilizing root cause and corrective action tools

  • Experience using quality tools such as (e.g. Pareto analysis, cause/effect diagrams, process mapping)

  • An active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Desired Skills:

  • Master's Degree in STEM

  • Familiarity with CMM/CMMI/SCAMPI model methodology

  • Experience in creating and performing holistic containment plans following a noncompliance event (Escape)

  • Experience conducting and completing First Article Inspections or completing the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)

  • Experience interfacing with customers or customer representatives to support business needs

  • Certifications in ASQ

  • Experience using a MRP system

  • Experience supporting AS9100 or equivalent audits

  • Working knowledge with Advanced Product Quality Planning tools (e.g. PFMEA, Control Plans, Capability Studies, Statistical Process Control, Measurement System Analysis)

  • Working knowledge of descriptive statistics and statistical control methodologies including statistical software

  • Ability to comprehend and translate external and internal requirements into effective work instructions

  • Ability to understand drawings, work instructions, Bill of Materials (BOMs), consumable materials control, process disciplines and tool control

  • Level 4 Mission Assurance Certification (internal candidates only)

Working Environments:

This position involves direct support of manufacturing activities and requires spending time in and around factory areas.

The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
