The Quality Engineer is responsible for developing gage designs and inspection plan for new or existing products. This person evaluate products and manufacturing processes and supports quality control activities through training inspection procedure preparation and technical support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1.Coordinates design review assessments to review quality aspects of new products. Interfaces with Product Development Engineers to ensure quality considerations during the print development stage.

2.Develops various inspection techniques and procedures to ensure product integrity to design specifications. Responsible for the writing approval and implementation of Receiving Floor and final Inspection procedures and operator self-inspection procedures.

3.Works with other Quality Engineers and the Metrology Lab personnel on the development and procurement of product gauging optical comparator overlays and templates.

4.Participates as a trainer in Quality Control and Manufacturing employee training programs.

5.Works with suppliers quality control supervisors engineers and manufacturing personnel in the resolution of quality problems. Also assists each of these groups with capability studies and the application of statistical quality control.

6.Interfaces with Manufacturing Engineers to review processes for new products and coordinate process validations and capability studies. Works with Production Introduction Team to recommend process monitoring devices where applicable.


May direct the work of one to three technicians. Responsibilities include training assigning and directing work.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS these are non-essential job duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor.

The Quality Engineer may be assigned special projects by the Q.C. Manager or direct supervisor that is commensurate with their level of experience.


  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering required.

  • ASQC CQE preferred.

  • One (1) to three (3) years intermediate level experience in quality control or manufacturing preferred. Must possess good written and verbal skills.


Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures and government regulations. Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers customers and the general public. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings including advanced geometric dimensioning and tolerances.


Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference geometry trigonometry calculus and algebra. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution reliability analysis of variance correlation techniques sampling theory and factor analysis.


Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.

The Quality Engineer may spend approximately 1/3 of this time walking or standing. The Quality Engineer may spend up to 60% of his time at a computer keyboard. He must also be able to measure parts using hand instruments.

The Quality Engineer must be able to speak and hear well enough to communicate effectively. Since he must visually inspect products vision must be excellent or corrected.

This position will be part of the Airborne Surveillance Command and Control (ASC2) Quality Assurance Team and will reside at the Oklahoma City Site campus supporting USAF and International Customers. Position Responsibilities: * Participates in Quality reviews of proposals, contracts, regulatory, program and customer requirements to develop quality assurance strategies, plans and tests for hardware and software products, processes and services ensuring early quality involvement in program development. * Uses established criteria to review, comment and recommend approval of software life cycle documents and program products. * Supports the development of Quality budget, cost estimates and assist in analyzing Earned Value Management data and the development of Cost Variance Analysis Reports. * Ensures Software Quality Plans are developed and maintained for the associated programs. * Conducts limited audits of software engineering processes and associated support functions to ensure compliance to documented command media and customer requirements. * Assists in configuration management activities such as software product release and change control boards to include a review of deviations and waivers to the software baseline. * Verifies pre-test set up and monitor or witness test activity to the established test plans and procedures. * Performs verification of test results to performance requirements. Uses established procedures and methods to perform final reconciliation of software data products. * Participates in source selection and process capability assessments of suppliers to verify their ability to meet program quality requirements and support business decisions. * Assists in the development of Quality criteria for supplier source selection. * Works closely with Supplier Management and Supplier Quality to ensure requirements are flowed adequately. * Assists in verifying the acceptability of segments of the supplier's software quality systems and programs. * Conducts software acceptance and delivery activities for low risk procurements. * Identifies non-conformances and issue appropriate corrective action. * Assists in the process of leading stakeholders in analysis of unfavorable process data, customer complaints and metric results formulating a mitigation plan utilizing the closed loop preventive / corrective action process. * Leads/Supports the development of Software Quality Metrics. * Candidate needs to be a self-starter and be able to work under general supervision.
