As a Senior Quality Engineer at Caterpillar, you will provide accurate and timely support of prime product production and the resolution of problems resulting from field material failures.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for monitoring 2 MIS DPU (months in service defects per unit) for all product lines and executing the CPI/BIQ (Continuous Product Improvement/Built-In-Quality) process

  • Responsible for managing project lists as CPI/BIQ List Manager as assigned

  • Responsible for representing Quality Department on matters regarding Concurrent Product and Process Development (CPPD), New Product Introduction (NPI), prove design to production, engineering changes and deviations

  • Responsible for managing Partners in Quality (PIQ) program for all product lines

  • Responsible for Pre-Delivery Audit (PDA) process / Customer Acceptance Validation (CAV), including creating and maintaining Inspection Checklists and processes

  • Drives use and maintenance of PFMEA and Control Plans related to process and product changes resulting from RCCA and Continuous Improvement

  • Responsible for managing relationships, communications, and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) with distribution centers

  • Responsible for managing the Athens Quality Ship Hold process

  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting monthly metrics for above listed processes

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 4-6 years of related experience, preferably in Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, Design, or Product Support/Service

  • Good working knowledge of quality standards and systems

  • Excellent computer and data analysis skills

  • Demonstrated technical writing skills

  • Excellent communication skills

Top candidates will also have:

  • Advanced degree

  • Certification with professional society (ASQ, ASME, etc.)

Physical Requirements This is a physical job, so you must have the ability to do the following: * Move over, and possibly under, different types of terrain in all-weather while carrying tools and equipment. * Ability to operate and lift weight-bearing equipment, such as customer premises equipment, gaffs, safety harnesses, extension ladders (that can weigh up to 75 pounds and extend 28 feet). Technical Requirements Additional necessary skills and abilities include: * A willingness and ability to learn to use handheld devices and operate computer or test equipment. These can include signal level meters, pressure testers, ohm meters, handheld applications, a laptop computer and software. * Familiarity with computer operating systems and a variety of consumer communications devices, such as smartphones, routers, modems, converters, and wireless devices. * A valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record within company-required standards. Travel to and from assigned territories and company facilities, including during inclement weather, is essential. In The Field Every day brings something different, so Field Techs should be comfortable working in a lot of different settings, for example: * High, outdoor places like telephone poles and rooftops, in all weather conditions, possibly for extended periods of time. * In residences, potentially in poorly ventilated areas such as attics, basements and/or crawlspaces where there may be dust, dirt, noise, insects, rodents, pets, and cleaning solutions. * Consistent and punctual attendance.
