Job title: Quality Engineer II
Andersen Corporation seeks Quality Engineer II in Dubuque, IA with responsibility for understanding customer feedback and driving quality improvement in the manufacturing process. Areas of focus include quality improvement, customer satisfaction, supplier quality, reducing waste, and ensuring product conformance to specification and performance standards.
This position at Andersen has the following duties: Lead quality and performance improvement project teams that include line leaders, manufacturing, and design engineers; Analyze customer complaints for quality issues and implement root cause analysis, corrective and preventative action using 5-why, fishbone and other appropriate tools to systemically eliminate ongoing quality concerns; Initiate, prioritize, and lead A3 projects for quality improvements based on customer IQ data, Air-Water test wall data and other relevant internal audit data; Be a project resource and be able to train others on Lean Six Sigma - DMAIC, SQC, SPC, TQM, FMEA and other core quality management concepts; Drive Supplier evaluation and improvement projects for Quality and engagement. Issue and assign corrective and preventative actions for non-conforming parts.
Collaborate with design and Supply Chain teams to engage external suppliers in part quality improvement initiatives; Plan, schedule, and audit governing procedures in compliance with the Andersen Quality Manual. Implement corrective actions based on audit findings. Lead quality team in the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) to validate new supplier parts; Create new control plans and improve existing ones as needed.
Develop process audit plans and reports for critical to quality (CTQ) workstations; Use software tools such as MS Excel, PowerBI and Minitab to derive data driven conclusions from Initial Quality and Warranty complaints. Create, set up and automate data gathering process and Reports for various quality metrics and audits; Run chart Air-Water and structural test wall procedures to gather in-depth product performance data; Use Statistical Process Control technique to create and implement control plans to reduce the risk of producing non-conforming parts and units. Create and approve control plans for existing and new processes on the production line; Create new PowerBI reports and visual dashboards of quality metrics to drive data driven decision making across different tiers of manufacturing management; Ensure products are built to meet current drawings, design specifications and established standards for design and quality; Ensure all product testing is completed to accurately meet established standards.
Qualified candidates must have at least a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field (or equivalent); Five years of Quality Engineer, Industrial Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, or closely related occupation experience; must have specific experience with 5-Why, Fish Bone Diagram, & FMEA.
Alternative requirements are: Master's degree in Engineering or a related field (or equivalent); 3 years of related experience; must have experience with 5-Why, Fish Bone Diagram, & FMEA.
Any suitable combination of training, education or experience equivalent to primary job requirements is acceptable.
