Overview

The Quality Engineer ensures adequate quality of all products, including purchased product, through the review of customer specifications during and after quote stage, the development and maintenance of component plans, quality plans, procedures and specifications, performance of internal and supplier audits and the investigation and correction of causes for nonconformance.

The preferred candidate will have experience with classification society and maritime regulations, rotating equipment (compressors, turbines, pumps) and cryogenic equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop knowledge of all Elliott products and processes, including Quality Assurance related inputs and outputs.

  • Review customer specifications as requested by Applications Engineering and provide Elliott comments and exceptions to quality, inspection, and testing related items.

  • Develop and maintain project specific quality plans and component plans for standard parts and components.

  • Participate in internal project transfer meetings, customer kick-off, coordination, and pre-inspection meetings.

  • Plan, write and issue procedures to meet the requirements of Elliott quality initiatives, including reviews of department standard procedures.

  • Participate on Product Action and Problem Prevention Teams for the development of requirements for standard products.

  • Provide project Quality Assurance support to external customers.

  • Provide Quality Assurance support to internal customers, including Project Management, Engineering, Drafting, Manufacturing, and Purchasing,

  • Lead audits of supplier quality systems, Elliott quality systems, and Elliott processes.

  • Work to prevent recurring problems by recommending and initiating corrective action requests based on nonconformance reports.

  • Create, review, approve and/or act upon various reports for purchased and manufactured products, i.e. - nonconformance reports, purchase order quality requirements, Corrective Active Requests, inspection records, manufacturing data books, etc.

  • Facilitates customer witness of testing and inspections activities.

  • Collection and compilation of inspection and test records for customer submittal documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Quality, Engineering or other related technical field, with 4 years' experience, or an Associate's degree with 7 years' experience.

  • Obtains and maintains at least one Quality Certification such as American Society for Quality (ASQ) CQE, CQA, CQT, CQM, CRE, Six Sigma Black Belt.

  • Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes, inspection methods and procedures, inspection equipment, nondestructive testing techniques and quality engineering including analytical skills.

  • Thorough knowledge of product specifications and features including design/manufacturing principles.

  • General knowledge of the principles and processes of quality initiatives.

  • Strong knowledge of operational processes in defined area of work and knowledge of industry practice and standards.
