A Quality Engineer

  • FAI Reviewer job is currently available at Belcan in Windsor, CT. This is a full time, direct job with full benefits. You are a great matching candidate if you have previously worked with first article inspections & FAI report packages, ideally within the aerospace industry. You will also be a great teammate, have the ability to work independently, and be customer service focused.

First Article Inspection Quality Engineer job duties:

  • Review FAIR Packages in compliance with AS9100 requirements

  • Record non-conformances into QCPC

  • Upload approved packages to meet outlined delivery schedules


  • Zero to five years of experience working with first article inspections and/or FAI report packages

  • Must have an ability to read blueprints

  • Familiarity with GD&T

  • Aerospace industry experience preferred

  • Due to the nature of our work, US citizens or permanent residents required

Desired but not required skills:

  • Prior use of Catia and/or TeamCenter

  • Knowledge of Model Based Definition

  • FAI certification

Primary Responsibilities: * Function as a liaison between the customer and Collins Aerospace to address quality concerns. * Use customer/internal metrics and ZDP methodology to create, lead, and/or implement improvements that drive customer satisfaction. * Lead investigations to determine compliance with quality management system standards, configuration assurance, contractual, customer and business requirements. * Support the incorporation of ZDP 3.0 (AS9145) to the EACS Business Unit. * Develop and implement containment, root cause and corrective actions (product and systemic). * Communicate improvement plans and progress to the organization and customers. * Provide interpretation of complex requirements. Drive resolution of conflicts and clarification in requirement flow-down. * Participate with Integrated Product Teams (IPT) to drive resolution of quality issues which may impact product performance and/or delivery results. * Lead sites and teams to effective improvements using various ACE/Lean/Six Sigma Tools; RCCA, PFMEA, SPC, DMAIC, DIVE, 8D, Gage R&R, VSM, Kaizen, and the like. * Drives processes to develop, modify, apply, and maintain quality evaluation, control systems and protocols. * Provides analysis and guidance to ensure quality standards are in effect. * Implements testing and inspection plans, methods, and technologies to assure reliability and conformance of products and processes. * Analyzes and makes recommendations for corrective actions for nonconformities and design problems for internally produced products & processes. Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR * Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience OR * In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required * Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor's degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations. * Must be a US Person Preferred Qualifications: * Manufacturing experience * Experience with the review of contractual requirements * Understanding of engineering drawing requirements * AS9100D or other Industry Standard experience Collins Aerospace, a Raytheon Technologies company, is a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry.
