Overview

Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. (BPMI) is seeking a quality engineer to work at our vendor's manufacturing facility located in Barberton, Ohio.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a team environment to ensure nuclear components built at this facility are built correctly and meet contract requirements

  • Develop and maintain documented surveillance plans

  • Vendor cause and corrective action reviews

  • Shop readiness reviews

  • Verification of contract change implementation

  • Vendor and sub-vendor procedure reviews

  • Resolution of quality and production issues

  • Lead/participate in frequent audits of the vendor's operating systems or processes

  • Responsible for formal documentation of daily, weekly, and monthly oversight activities to key stakeholders

  • Performing QA oversight in welding, machining, nondestructive (NDT), and other inspection processes

  • Pre-shipment reviews and acceptance of product

  • Some travel is required (10%)

Since BPMI's vendor production facilities typically operate in 24/7 environment, this position will require some back-shift support. Some physical restrictions and limitations apply (working in confined spaces, areas that are not temperature controlled, elevated platforms and lifts, etc.). Personal safety emphasis in a shop environment is a must.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • B.S or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related science from an accredited college or university.

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred.

  • A minimum of five years of experience in quality assurance, mechanical engineering, or manufacturing engineering.

  • Effective written and oral communication skills.

  • Creative problem solving capabilities.

  • Ability to be qualified in non-destructive testing (NDT) and inspection techniques.

  • Ability to work in confined spaces, areas that are not temperature controlled, and on elevated platforms and lifts.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen due to government security clearance requirements. In order to work at BPMI, applicants must complete a Federal background investigation and be granted a security clearance.

BPMI is a prime contractor for the United States Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP). We are a project engineering organization responsible for providing design, manufacturing, and procurement management for the fabrication, testing, delivery, installation, and field support of high quality nuclear power plant components for installation in submarines and aircraft carriers.
