Description

Purpose: To provide technical Quality Assurance support to the Quality, Engineering and Manufacturing functions in an automotive production line. Responsible for management of the Quality Lab by establishing procedures and set up and calibration of all gages. Also responsible for providing support to supplier activities during S1 and S2 as well as management support of the quality supervisors on the floor for both shifts. Responsible for Customer interaction in response to questions

Requirements

The Quality Engineer is responsible for:

  • Set up documentation and training for the floor.

  • Torque data collection and reporting (SPC charts, etc.)

  • Product measurement

  • Product complaint investigation

  • Product disposition (support role)

  • Support of Engineering Change Notice reviews for impact on process and system

  • Quality Management System: Implement, maintain, and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with IATF 16949 standards.

  • Documentation: Develop, review, and update quality documentation to ensure compliance with IATF 16949 standards.

  • Problem-Solving: Use root cause analysis and other problem-solving techniques to identify, resolve, and prevent quality issues.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.

  • Customer Requirements: Ensure that customer-specific requirements related to IATF 16949 are understood, implemented, and maintained within the QMS.

  • Risk Management: Implement risk management processes in line with IATF 16949 guidelines to proactively identify and mitigate potential quality issues.

Provide training, advice, and guidance to others regarding:

  • Statistical Process Control implementation

  • Calibrations

  • Support supplier control activities as needed (containment of product)

  • Provide direction for the production supervisor and control floor processes and changes.

  • Performs special assignments as delegated. sues, WCM tools, and data collection and training of the floor.

Education / Skill / Experience Requirements:

  • Four-year Degree required with at least 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Education: bachelor's degree in engineering, Quality Management, or a related field

  • Must have good problem-solving, analytical, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of Automotive core tools

  • Calibration of measurement instruments

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality assurance, preferably within the automotive industry.

  • IATF 16949 Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding and practical experience with IATF 16949 standards and their application.

  • Certifications: Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar certification related to quality management and IATF 16949 is preferred.

  • Skills: Proficient in quality management tools and software, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and teamwork abilities.
