The Quality Engineer will lead the quality management from inception to production launch and throughout production cycle according to ISO/TS 16949 quality standards. In this position the individual will have technical leadership and will be ensuring the quality management system performance is evaluated, and areas that need improvement throughout the Fabrication or Stamping Arenas are identified and reported to the Quality Director. This person should have commitment to excellence be a good trainer and communicator. Also, strong leadership skills are necessary. Good knowledge and expertise in the metal stamping and fabrication industry are critical. The Quality Engineer will also be responsible to manage the organization's customer focus and response to customer related quality issues and subsequent internal corrective actions.

  • Responsible for the PPAP's, FAI's, Control Plans, Process Capabilities Studies, GR&R and FEMA's as part of APQP's and NPI's processes.

  • Responsible for originating and implementing inspection procedures and plans.

  • Directing customer liaison on quality matters involving Larsen Manufacturing products

  • Receiving direct communications relating to quality problems from customer, purchasing, engineering, quality, customer service and sales personnel.

  • Assisting Quality Manager's in answering to the customer complaints, QR's, CAR's, 8D reports within specified time frame.

  • Reviewing and initiating RMA, MR's and Nonconformance Reports via UniPoint.

  • Implementing and assuring proper corrective action.

  • Implementing and assuring proper material dispositions and initiating material review board actions if necessary.

  • Requesting Design and Manufacturing Engineering assistance if necessary.

  • Assuring incoming, in-process and outgoing quality.

  • Responsible for creation and handling of Non-Conformance Reports, Disposition of Nonconformance Materials/Products/Parts and Recording Cost or Poor Quality via UniPoint.

  • Initiation of Quality Warnings/Alerts, Product Deviations or Waivers. Follow up with customers to ensure acceptance/approval of Product Deviations or Waivers.

  • Initiating required layouts. Responsible for inspection activities.

  • Administering necessary follow up on historical problems. Notifying management of critical problem areas.

  • Interfacing with Larsen Manufacturing suppliers on Quality problems. Work with supply chain team to resolve supplier/s related issue.

  • Initiate CAR's and 8D's to supplier and ensure it is completion.

  • Surveying appropriate potential suppliers for quality capability.

  • Participate for Larsen Manufacturing customer and auditor visitations.

  • ISO/TS Auditor experience is required.

Required Knowledge:

  • 4 year college degree in Engineering (prefer Mechanical, Manufacturing)

  • Experience with Metal Stamping and/or Fabrication

  • Quality Engineering experience including: Statistical Process Control (SPC), DOE, CAPA, LEAN, 5S's and Six Sigma (6 )

  • Strong customer interface experience.

  • Ability to lead, mentor, coach and manage quality engineering team

  • Successful experience managing multiple quality engineering projects

Qualifications

Required Knowledge:

VIEW JOBS 7/29/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-10-27T00:00 The Quality Assurance Technician assures the consistent quality of production by developing and enforcing manufacturing practices and systems, validating processes, and providing necessary documentation to ensure quality excellence. In this role the technician will strive to achieve Quality Assurance operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews, preparing and completing action plans, implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards, identifying and resolving problems, completing audits, determining system improvements as well as implementing change. The Quality Technician will perform the described quality activities throughout the manufacturing plant as necessary and on a daily basis. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: * Perform first article inspection and FAI layouts on new and/or revised parts and components. * Complete FAI reports with all dimensions and submit to Quality Engineer for data entry verifications. Ensure that PPAP and FAI's reports meet customer and/or internal requirements. * Generate regular inspection reports (History Cards) as required. * Generate Initial Process Flow Diagram, Control Plan and Failure Mode and Risk Analysis. * Initiate, track, document nonconformance reports (NC's). * Complete Measurements for statistical process controls, capability studies, and MSA (Gage R&R) as applicable for key characteristics specified on customer prints and/or customer specs when required. * Learn and work in critical modules in QMS database UniPoint (NC, CPA, Inspection and Test, Internal Audit, Calibration) * Perform Incoming, In Process Inspection and Final Audit to ensure that products are meeting all engineering specifications. * Measurements Skills: basic test and measuring equipment such as optical comparator, micrometer, caliper, thread gage, pin gage, height gage, and operate CMM. * Working knowledge of GD&T and it is application to the measurement process is critical for this position. * Perform visual and dimensional inspection of purchased parts, fabricated parts, stamped parts, components, assemblies and materials using calibrated equipment. * Perform Gage Calibration, when required. * CMM Programming is plus. Qualifications Required Knowledge: * Strong Math Skills * Knowledge of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 * Experience with Metal Stamping and Fabrication (Laser Cutting, Forming, Welding and Assembly Processes). * 4+ Years of experience performing close tolerance mechanical inspections * GD&T (ability to read, interpret and apply GD&T call outs to the measurement process) * Strong Computer Literacy (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook) Larsen Manufacturing Mundelein IL
