Our Quality Lab Technician is an exciting role that plays an important part in the quality of our cement. Challenge yourself with math and other engaging activities in this team environment. This position reports to our Quality Control Manager.

This position resides in Nazareth, PA. This is a rotating shift position. (rotating 3 shifts)

What you'll get to do:

  • Insure sample integrity and properly collect, identify, prepare and homogenize and store all samples

  • Collect, record, store, analyze and distribute information concerning quality control results

  • Communicate all appropriate results, information and problems to the appropriate supervisors, foremen and plant associates

  • Monitor the quality of the quarried materials through the appropriate testing

  • Control the quality of the raw mill production, finish mill production, and kiln production by performing the appropriate tests and making any necessary changes to maintain the posted targets

  • Perform testing that will enhance the production rate or quality of all plant operations

  • Learn the procedure for the making of glass pellets

  • Insure all plant production meets the specifications of the company, the plant and the customer by performing appropriate testing

  • Perform tests to resolve customer complaints and meet customer needs

  • Monitor all laboratory equipment and plant equipment for proper operation and report any deviations to the proper personnel

  • Perform tests to determine the quality of fuels

  • Determine the quality of purchased materials by performing the appropriate tests

  • Perform production and inventory record keeping duties

  • Follow plant and MSHA Safety Policies, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment. Maintain an awareness of plant environmental standards. Takes corrective action to address minor problems or reports compliance issues to appropriate supervisor for resolution.

Who we are looking for:

  • 2 year degree in Chemistry or similar technical degree beneficial but not required.

  • Must be capable of lifting a bag of cement from the floor to the workbench (Type I bag = 94 pounds)

  • Must be able to work weekends and or Holidays for laboratory coverage.

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills.

Shifts Available: 2nd, 3rd, Weeked Essential Duties & Responsibilities: * Follows workplace and vehicle safety procedures consistently. * Follows good housekeeping standards * Follows SDS training and guidelines. * Possess an advanced set of tools * Able to perform proper preventive maintenance such as: lube, filters, inspection, including truck appearance, interior and exterior, cab related safety and security. * Direct/Indirect labor accountability (completing paperwork) * Diagnose and repair of cab related defects * Perform all electrical repairs. * Perform tires inspections for tread, inflation, rotation, wear, alignment * Repairs exhaust related repair, DPF, DOC, EGR DEF. * Perform emergency road calls * Proficient brake diagnostic/repair & replace/adjustments * Perform basic computer skills for company related initiatives. * Possess diagnostic computer skills * Able to perform DOT inspection in accordance to FMSCA guidelines * Basic understanding and repair of drive train components * Basic understanding and repair of cooling system maintenance and repair * May perform basic accident repairs on tractors or trailers. * Assist in parts inventory management * ASE Certification in 4 areas to include PM and brakes * Must be able to communicate with internal customers (i.e. other shop associates, drivers, other maintenance shops, etc.) on things such as wait times, reasons for repair decisions and status updates.
