As a member of the Quality Assurance department you will assure the receiving of quality products by inspecting and grading ingredients and materials purchased and shall help identify quality issues.

Work Environment:

Industrial plant environment with related noise and temperature.

Work Hours :

Any shift, any day of the week, as assigned. Overtime as needed.


  • Responsible to comply with all Quality and Food Safety Management standards and/or systems to ensure continual improvement and effectiveness of the Food Safety Management System with the ability to satisfy our customers and provide products that are in accordance to their intended use and safe for human consumption

  • Comply with DATW Quality Assurance Manual and purchased product specifications to ensure that the correct procedure and/or specification are used in grading product for manufacturing use.

  • Responsible for the grading of incoming frozen, dry and liquid ingredients, including packaging materials

  • Collect samples of product and grade for defects, color, character and size according to product specifications and procedures.

  • Perform inspections for foreign material as part of the grading process

  • Pull product samples for microbiological and pesticide analysis according to procedures.

  • Notify DATW Quality Assurance management of quality issues.

  • Follow safety procedures and practices.

  • Follow company policies and procedures.

  • Follow and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) in the laboratory and on the production floor.

  • Complete and monitor Quality Control Receiving records.

  • Keep work area in a clean orderly fashion.

  • Demonstrate cooperative behavior with co-workers, supervisors and management.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or department manager.


  • Must have High School diploma (college experience a plus).

  • Laboratory experience a plus, but not required.

  • Basic computer skills a plus.

  • Reliable attendance is an essential funciton of the job.

POSITION TITLE: Quality Control/ EHS Technician REPORTS TO: Plant Manager The Position The Quality/EHS Technician is responsible for maintaining quality assurance processes and recording and analyzing data as well as being responsible for performing and initiating all activities in support of environmental health and safety initiatives. They will lead in development of Control Plans and process documentation as well as problem solving efforts. They will play an active role in the development of quality assurance procedures and will be actively involved in process improvement efforts to ensure that product meets specification and customer expectations. The Quality/Safety Technician will work primarily in the manufacturing environment. This includes but not limited to collecting metric data points, analyzing quality data, applying quality tools and fundamental statistical methods to process control and improvements. This role also documents procedures, file quality/safety paperwork, perform product safety audits, assist in reporting quality issues and participate as an active and constructive member of the quality team. The Primary Duties and Responsibilities (Quality): * Participates in internal process and product audits. * Perform various levels of inspection: incoming receiving, in-process manufacturing and finished goods process audit. * Input data pertinent to quality database systems for capturing, analyzing, and providing timely and accurate reporting and corrective actions. * Determine from blueprint and specifications the dimensions, finishes, processes and methods of inspection, precision measuring instruments (i.e.: CMM, calipers, micrometers), gauges, tools and set-up required for checking surfaces and variations. * Participate in the implementation of product quality improvement initiatives to reduce process variation and prevent defects. * Use quality tools (and others) to troubleshoot, identify and analyze problems to the true root-cause level, and work with the appropriate teams to implement solutions and ensure the identified root- because problems are resolved. * Actively lead Yellow Lean & Yellow Six projects to lean out processes and improve overall COQ performance. (Train other production workers on tools and methodology) * Lead Kaizen events on manufacturing floor with crosses functional teams. * Train employees on QA tools and techniques as required. * Takes responsibility for quality functions for a product line such as customer claims investigation and reporting, new product launch activities, in-process defect reduction activities. * Determines disposition of finished product by collecting, classifying, analyzing, and interpreting production and quality data; judging product acceptability in comparison to specifications. * Identifies raw material condition by collecting material samples; conducting inspections and requesting testing as required. * Documents finished product status by recording and summarizing raw materials, in-process, and finished product inspection and physical test-data; updating quality assurance reports. The Secondary Duties and Responsibilities (Safety): * Active on production floor coaching, auditing and training employees in safe behavioral safety activity. Administrative activities to ensure reporting & compliance. * Plan, schedule, coordinate and conduct safety, orientation and environmental training. Further develop training programs in a manner that raises employee's awareness and enables employees and supervisors to work safely. * Conducts and monitors incident reporting and investigations. * Analyze and update policies, procedures and plans in accordance with governmental or company guidelines. * Develop and coordinate loss prevention training (Safety, Health & Hygiene) for entire facility. * Identifies, monitors, evaluates and tracks all safety activities through audits, statistical analysis and computerized record keeping. * Establishes and maintains an effective system of communication within the organization. * Generate reports and documentation as necessary to ensure compliance with regulatory record keeping requirements standards for regulators or internal requirements. * Manage EHS record keeping requirements, prepare and organize EHS files for audits. Work collaboratively with plant operations to develop sustainable EHS programs and processes. REQUIREMENTS: * Associate Degree Preferred will consider Tech School or High School graduates with the right skills and experience. Certificate in occupational health and safety or other relevant field a plus. * Prefer Yellow Lean & Yellow Six certification or ability to obtain certification in 1 year. * 2-4 years of manufacturing experience (millwork, automotive or metals preferred.) * Requires strong knowledge of (FMEA, PDR's, RMA, FRC, MRB's, PPAP's, & R&R studies. * Knowledge of manufacturing processes (including assembly, fabrication, and glazing). * Experience with auditing and inspection of product and processes. * Ability to use computer equipment and software applications (MS-Office Products). * Good communications skills both written and verbal. * Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail required. * Ability to solve shop problems using addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, squares, and square roots. * Knowledge of safety and security measures when utilizing equipment and materials. * Ability to provide extended flexible work hours, as work-load and projects requires. * Ability to lift up to 50 lbs from the floor level up to the inspection station.
