We are currently recruiting for a Quality Control Supervisor for our sawmill in Port Angeles, WA. The Quality Control Supervisor will manage the lumber recovery and grade recovery performances of the site while ensuring the final product meets Interfor grade specifications and satisfies customer requirements. The QC Supervisor will conduct all quality assurance audits and manage the processes necessary to maintain our operational quality standards. In addition to providing scheduled reports, the position will facilitate team communication to drive corrective action through root cause analysis.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain the highest standards with respect to safety at all times, leading by example and ensuring employees follow all policies, procedures, practices and regulations.

  • Oversee manufacturing quality, meeting product specifications and customer expectations while maximizing outturns

  • Maintain a comprehensive QC program with input from the QC Superintendent.

  • Conduct daily quality and process audits, along with routine scanner calibrations.

  • Foster the continuous improvement process by working closely with production and maintenance staff in resolving quality issues.

  • Follow-up with "Out-of-Spec" situations until corrective plans are completed.

  • Report out specified key performance indicators and communications; specific to quality and associated processes.

  • Identify opportunities to improve lumber and grade recoveries.

  • Interface with Grade Agency Inspectors during their routine inspections.

  • Available to direct operational teams in supervisor's absence.

What You Offer

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent preferred.

  • 3 years of sawmill, planer or related experience.

  • Knowledge and experience within lumber manufacturing and sawmill operations.

  • Knowledge of ALSC grading rules or equivalent desired.

  • Experience in statistical process control and associated software desired (Minitab/etc).

  • Possess an advanced computer skillset which is required for scanner calibrations.

  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills with maintaining focus and attention to detail.

  • Experience with interpersonal, team-building and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities working effectively within a team.

  • Familiarity with trouble-shooting systems, being analytical, and solving problems.

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite with emphasis in Word/Excel.

Description Position Summary: Housekeeping Supervisors are responsible for supervising the cleaning of assigned lodge rooms, linens, hallways, carpets and other designated amenities and areas in accordance with the highest cleanliness standards to ensure customer satisfaction. Housekeeping Supervisors are also required to ensure that all daily housekeeping procedures and policies are followed. Housekeeping Supervisors may be required to perform administrative and housekeeper duties when necessary. Essential Functions: * Assists the Housekeeping Manager with daily duties * Ensures that all employees (housekeepers, housemen, linen attendants, and general resort workers) report to duty punctually, well-groomed, and in proper attire * Assists in the development and implementation of schedules, duties, apparel, appearance, and conduct of all housekeeping staff * Assists in the training of all ARAMARK, NPS, and OSHA policies and procedures pertaining to employment, safety, and sanitation * Ensures the establishment of effective and responsible guest relations and administers lost and found policy and procedure to ensure that all items are turned in daily and logged. * Works closely with the maintenance department to insure that all repairs are done and cleaned before the guest arrives * Directs the control of linen counts and handling, and maintains an inventory of rooms * Orders and distributes all supplies and equipment, controlling costs * Responsible for the motivation of housekeeping staff and ensuring the efficient use of staff to maximize productivity * Ensures that all work areas are neat, clean, and organized and performs such other duties as required or directed * Responsible for ensuring that employee housing is cleaned twice each week * Know and comply with all company policies and procedures regarding safety, security, emergencies and energy * Report to work on time and in complete uniform * Other duties as assigned Status and Scope: * The Housekeeping Supervisor reports to the Housekeeping Manager * Must have the ability to bend constantly * Must be able to effectively manage a staff of housekeepers * Must be able to accurately carry out instructions * Must be able to do repetitive tasks * Attention to detail focus is vital to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness are maintained * Able to identify and communicate problems in English to Housekeeping Manager * Team player Qualifications Qualifications: * Housekeeping experience required * Supervisory experience required * Working knowledge of various cleaning utensils, dryers, washers, tools and fixtures, and cleaning solutions * Knowledge of MSDS on cleaning solutions in use Equipment Used: Hand truck, Washer, Dryer, Vacuum, Motorized Cart Travel Requirements: Little or No Travel (>10%) Lifting Requirements: MEDIUM - Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
