Overview

Walsh is currently seeking a Quality Control Manager for the Federal Building Division. The projects that the Quality Control Manager will be managing will be located in the Western half of the United States including California, Oklahoma, and Arizona.

The Quality Control Manager is responsible for managing and performing daily QC responsibilities to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with the established specifications and contract language.

Responsibilities

  • Direct oversight of QC Technicians and/or Independent Testing Firm personnel

  • Physical inspection of the site work

  • Review of all contract documentation and interprets blueprints and specifications to ensure compliance with specifications and other regulations governing construction

  • Contributes expertise to the work planning process, while aiding other in-house personnel (Project Managers, Superintendents, Engineers, etc.) and external personnel to produce and document a quality product

  • Coordinates testing laboratory technicians and interprets test results

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of Quality Control Management experience in the construction industry

  • Civil Engineering, Architectural, or Construction Management degree is required

  • Ability to enforce quality control, and ensure compliance with quality standards and contract requirements

  • Able to perform surveillance and inspection on multiple crews and subcontractors

  • Flexibility to provide QC services both on and off the jobsite and at various intervals of a project

  • Ability to relocate with some travel

  • Self-starter with good documentation skills

  • AIA/PE License strongly preferred

  • Experience managing quality control of an Airfield or Hanger Facility

Applies experience and advanced knowledge applicable to his/her discipline to plan and accomplish assignments in the area of airframe and powerplant. Assignments may require knowledge and experience working across functional and/or organizational lines. Typical assignments may include tracking and analyzing technical data to ensure compliance with policies and procedures; providing guidance to less-experienced professionals in day-to-day operations; identifying, analyzing, and recommending solutions for complex/difficult problems; recommending improvements to systems and processes, determining aircraft and aircraft systems return to-service approvals and airworthiness, and editing manuals and task cards utilizing software applications, computer networking, and automation equipment. Applies experience of aircraft maintenance to perform routine maintenance and inspection tasks on agency aircraft (e.g. Beechcraft King Air Series-90, 200, 300, Bombardier CL-600 series, or Learjet 60) to ensure aircraft released in an airworthy condition. Demonstrates considerable independence in planning time, and assists a manager, project/program manager, or team leader to plan and use assigned resources to accomplish projects/programs/activities. May identify and request additional resources, as needed. Contacts are internal and external to the Aircraft Maintenance Group. May act as a point of contact to provide advice and guidance on the applications of policies and procedures. May be called upon to communicate FAA positions on policies or procedures internally or externally to Aircraft Maintenance. Established policies/procedures provide guidance for most assignments, but allow considerable discretion to select the most appropriate approach or to recommend new approaches. Assignments often require a review of policies and precedents, under the limited guidance of a manager or other employee. Responsible for developing airframe technical standards, procedures, techniques, processes and directives governing the performance and standards of agency aircraft maintenance support and inspection programs. Resolves most problems and work issues without the assistance of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional. Refers problems that require their attention to managers and more experienced professionals. May be asked to write reports, analyze information, and assist in developing and recommending solutions and/or corrective actions. Work is reviewed periodically, typically at major milestones and at completion, to ensure policy compliance and alignment with the requirements of the project or other work activity. Work activities typically support and may be vital to the success of the projects and/or activities of the maintenance and quality assurance organizational units.
