Compensation: $70,000 - $100,000 / year

Overview

As a Quality Control Manager, your primary responsibility is to ensure the consistent production and delivery of high-quality ready-mix concrete to customers. You will oversee and manage the quality control processes and procedures within the ready-mix concrete plant. This position requires adherence with all company standards, policies, and procedures, as well as compliance with all federal and state regulations, including OSHA, TCEQ etc.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement quality control procedures and guidelines to ensure the production of high-quality ready-mix concrete. Monitor the entire production process from raw material inspection to concrete batching and delivery.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, specifications, and regulations. Stay updated with changes in quality control standards and implement necessary changes to maintain compliance.

  • Oversee and perform various tests on raw materials, fresh concrete, and hardened concrete to determine their quality, strength, and durability. Analyze test results and take appropriate actions to address any deviations or quality issues.

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all quality control activities, test results, and inspection reports. Generate regular reports on quality performance, non-conformance issues, and corrective actions taken. Prepare documentation required for customer and regulatory audits.

  • Train and supervise quality control technicians and laboratory personnel. Provide guidance on testing procedures, equipment operation, and interpretation of test results. Ensure that the quality control team is adequately trained and competent to perform their duties.

  • Identify areas for improvement in the quality control process, equipment, and procedures. Collaborate with plant management and other departments to implement improvements and optimize quality control operations. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall quality and efficiency.

  • Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to address any quality-related concerns or inquiries from customers. Provide technical expertise and support to resolve customer issues promptly and maintain positive customer relationships.

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and promote a safe working environment. Identify potential hazards and implement appropriate control measures. Train employees on safe work practices related to quality control activities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of concrete mix designs, materials, and testing procedures

  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards, such as ASTM, ACI, and local building codes

  • Experience in quality control and testing within the ready-mix concrete industry

  • Proficient in using laboratory equipment and software for testing and analysis

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • Leadership and team management abilities

  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to concrete production

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and ability to adapt to other computer software.

  • Engineering or Construction Management Degree or equivalent preferred, but not required.
