JLM is seeking a Quality Control Manager to be part of a major construction company in Portland, OR. The Quality Control Manager is responsible for implementation, improvement and execution of the Quality Management system (QMS) and project specific quality program requirements. They ensure that the design and construction works are planned and executed in accordance with established policies, procedures, systems and requirements of the Company and contract.

Responsibilities:

  • Coaches, mentors and trains entire project staff in quality management principles, procedures and project-specific requirements. Serves as mentor and coach to Quality staff to advance their careers at the company and improve retention
  • Responsible for leading and managing quality processes such as work planning, pre-activity meetings, material management, Quality Incident Reports, Lesson Sharing and follow-up inspections
  • Supports Site Safety to ensure that projects are completed in accordance with established safety procedures, requirements and goals
  • Maintains relationships with owners, Clients, subcontractors, design partners and stakeholders to support project partnering and issue resolution
  • Responsible for risk management strategy that helps projects improve profitability by reducing risk and improving efficiency via process management and risk mitigation
  • Routinely audits project quality programs seeking continuous improvement utilizing Project QC Evaluation and other auditing tools. Provides feedback to Operations and Quality Management of major QIRs, project team relationships, owner/client perceptions, and overall quality management recurring non-conformances
  • Establishes, monitors and reports on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), as well as QIRs for project teams to ensure continuous improvement. Analyzes project KPIs, evaluates trends and provides improvement strategies
  • Other assigned tasks

Requirements

  • AEC Bachelors degree is preferred or equivalent related field experience
  • Current International Code Counsel or NICET certification
  • Minimum 7 years of AEC experience, with 3 years preferred in a Quality role
  • Good communication skills, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, and ability to prioritize, organize and manage time
  • Knowledge of standards, specifications and publications of job related duties
  • Industry certifications for testing and inspection as required to review and certify that the test, inspection, and procedures satisfy requirements

Moreover, we prefer applicants who share our passion and pride in the work we all contribute to as a team.</p><p>This position reports directly to the Director of Quality and will be responsible for the following:<br></p><ul> <li>Directs workflow and supervises the Line Quality Control and Quality Assurance teams.</li> <li>Oversees day to day cross-departmental operations between Quality and Production, Sanitation, Materials, Maintenance, Customer Service, Sales, and Marketing.</li> <li>Strategically sets Quality compliance objectives and ensures KPIs are reliably met or exceeded.</li> <li>Ensures that sanitation and environmental monitoring activities are acceptable by implementing verification activities to confirm the effectiveness of sanitation activities and responding appropriately when out-of-spec events occur.</li> <li>Contributes to the operational goal of continuous improvement, especially by coaching and mentoring the production and quality teams.</li> <li>Supports the Quality Lab by defining sampling plans, raw material and finished good limits, and protocols for data management.</li> <li>Collaborates with the Document Specialist to develop SOPs, eSOPs, SSOPs, QRFs, and manage the CAPA program.</li> <li>Participates in HACCP plan development, internal and third-party audits, and routine master manufacturing record reviews.</li> <li>Assists in the handling of customer inquiries and/or complaint events; acts as a member of the response team for SAE and mock recalls.</li> <li>Travels to audit suppliers as part of the supplier qualification process (virtual until further notice).</li> <li>Conducts product label reviews for compliance and assists in the maintenance of label revisions.</li> <li>Ensures standards for all facility and product certifications are being met or exceeded by assisting in the development, implementation, and enforcement of processes and procedures.</li> <li>Assists in the coordination of new product introductions by providing clearly defined and sufficiently documented processes for implementing change in transitioning from bench to batch scale manufacturing.</li> <li>Other assignments as needed.</li> </ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><ul> <li>HACCP, PCQI, SQF Certified</li> <li>Bachelors or post-graduate degree in Food Science or related field</li> <li>Minimum 5 years experience with Quality in a food, dietary supplement, or drug manufacturing environment</li> <li>Minimum 3 years supervisory or managerial experience</li> <li>Developed experience with FDA regulatory requirements (21 CFR 111, 117, 211, 507)</li> <li>Intermediate understanding of microbiological testing and limited chemistry testing</li> <li>Knowledge of various pathogens and microbes associated with food production</li> <li>Strong decision making and communication skills</li> <li>Must be flexible with scheduling in support of business needs</li> </ul><p><strong>Benefits</strong></p><ul> <li>Comprehensive benefits (medical, vision, and dental insurance)</li> <li>Employee discount program</li> <li>Fully stocked kitchen</li> <li>401K plan</li> <li>FSA &amp; commuter benefits</li> <li>Employee development opportunities</li> <li>Company events</li> </ul><p>This is a full-time role based in NE Portland.
