We are seeking a Quality Control Manager, Home Furnishings in Cartersville, GA. This Quality Control Manager will be responsible for the quality standards of products and processes, always being maintained using a series of inspection standards.
This individual will keep records of inspections performed, work to resolve non-conformances, and provide weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports of quality control standards. In addition, this person will also help ensure quality performance with associates through the creation and maintenance of work instructions, SOPs, and training. You will also work on continuous improvement projects under guidance from the Senior Director of Quality and Product Compliance Director.
Please note, this is a distribution position. This facility is not climate controlled and subject to temperature changes in relation to the seasons. Responsibilities: Manages the inspection of products at key inbound/outbound points in the distribution center Maintains records of all reports identifying issues and communicate them to business and quality team as needed Ensure high integrity records management practices (review documentation, archive records into the management system, assign record numbers, enter relevant information into the records management tracker, and provide information/reports on request) Lead the Quality projects locally to ensure proper procedure and implementation Work with Distribution Managers to optimize DC workflow Attend daily Managers meeting at DC and update team on Quality Attend regular Quality meeting between the 3 DC locations.
Optimize Quality team performance by cross training and regular feedback Perform worker’s yearly performance evaluation Provide recommendations for changes in inspection methods and frequency intervals Respond promptly to special requests for reprocessing, repackaging, etc. Work with Purchasing and Management to resolve any nonconformances found and ensure issues are resolved with the Weavers (Replace it with manufacturers, not weavers) promptly Work with Customer Returns department to analyze data and improve Quality Use inspection Data to evaluate and make decisions to improve Quality Ensure the correct packaging of all products according to customer’s requirements Vendor Requirements Doc. and/or production standards of the company Inspect the quality of the product before being repackaged Manages the decision-making regarding the disposition of non-conforming products Work with the management team to create and maintain SOPs for all departments Assist with the training and onboarding of new associates Address any unsafe working conditions immediately Know, Apply, Follow, and Audit the Global Recycling Standard (GRS) within the department While this is a management position with significant time spent in the office, managers are expected to spend time daily on the floor, inspecting products, collaborating with different departments, and communicating directly with employees in the workspace Requirements and Skills: Bachelor's degree, preferably in Supply Chain Management, Business, or Engineering Minimum of 5 years of related experience in Quality Control within the Home Furnishing Category Understanding of compliance and testing requirements for different furniture items Understanding of product production flow from raw material to finished product Worked with vendors directly on product development and improvement Follow up on Corrective and Prevention actions by the vendor ASQ Quality Manager to Quality Engineer certification Preferred Other Certifications such as Lean, Six Sigma Green belt preferred Lean methodology/tools such as Poka-Yoke, Value Stream mapping, Kaizen is preferred Ability to work effectively and independently Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio Strong leadership, interpersonal skills, ability to manage staff and train and give detailed direction Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills, takes initiative and works well independently Knowledge of proper inspecting procedures pertaining to Home Furnishings The capability of prioritizing and handling multiple projects simultaneously under tight time constraints Able to work effectively with peers and corporate leadership Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Qualifications:
Ability to sit, stoop, stand, lift a minimum of 50 lbs and walk for up to 8 hours or more per day is required Dust and fibers are part of a warehouse environment. The employee will come into contact with these through the normal course of performing everyday job duties Home furnishing products are produced using various metals, natural and manufactured wood, including wood composite and particle board, glass, electrical components, marble, terra-cotta, welding, glue and chemicals.
The employee will come in contact with these substances as well Powered equipment is used throughout the distribution facility.
