Quality Control Engineer
4.1) NATURE OF WORK: This is responsible work, specializing in areas of quality control
engineering for incoming materials. Incumbents in this classification verify incoming
materials conform to documented requirements, prepare incoming inspection instructions
and equipment operation instructions, and ensuring that nonconforming material is
segregated or moved to an area responsible for necessary repairs and then another
inspection before use in a Lean manufacturing environment.

4.2.25) Uses quality monitoring data management system to compile and track
performance at team and individual level.
4.2.26) Provides actionable data to various internal support groups as needed.
4.2.27) Coordinates and facilitates all calibration sessions for Lear staff.
4.2.28) Provides feedback concerning quality team leaders and managers.
4.2.29) Prepares and analyzes internal quality reports for management staff review.
4.2.30) Responsible for new material sample approval.
4.2.31) Confers and corresponds with establishment representatives to rectify problems,
such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications.
4.2.32) Ensures quality conforms to requirements; workmanship standards, work
instructions, engineering documents, and thorough testing are used to assess the
conformance of the product, and non-conformances are either immediately
repaired and re-inspected, or identified and segregated from conforming product.
4.2.33) Inspects the product and/or audits processes based upon the quality history,
criticality and capability of the processes.
4.2.34) Develops methods for inspection, testing, sampling, and training.
4.2.35) Evaluates production capabilities and recommends improvements.
4.2.36) Assists in developing quality assurance policies and procedures.
4.2.37) Inspects and verifies a wide variety of equipment, parts, and subassemblies to
ensure conformance to the latest revision of the design specifications, drawings
and industry quality standards.
4.2.38) Performs inspection operations referring to copies of schematics, specifications,
assembly prints and piece part drawings.
4.2.39) Works with engineering groups to develop measuring equipment standards and
techniques for new or unusual precision mechanical parts and assemblies.
4.2.40) Examines, evaluates, and disposes rejected material.
4.2.41) Tracks and reduces rejected inventory.
4.2.42) Verifies conformance of parts and assemblies to specifications using various
inspection equipment (CMM, surface plate, calipers, verniers, height gauges, etc).
4.2.43) Helps to maintain the integrity of the inspection equipment in the area.
4.2.44) Ensures that all equipment is in calibration and tracking software is up to date.
4.2.45) Aids in scheduling calibration of the equipment with the 3rd party calibration lab.
4.2.46) Assists other inspectors working with them to exchange and share knowledge.
4.2.47) Reports serious quality issues to the department lead and assist in working
towards that appropriate corrective action recommendation.
4.2.48) Leads Engineering Change Control committee and documents break points for all
engineering changes; maintains E/Q Level Tracking with SQE.
4.3) KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
4.3.2) Knowledge of terminology pertaining to quality assurance as needed to respond to
questions and provide oversight.
4.3.3) Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and
other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of

4.3.5) Knowledge of ASTM standards in the industrial field and education and prior work

4.3.7) Knowledge of strategies such as product lifecycle management (PLM), just-intime, and self directed teams as needed to effectively implement these strategies.
4.3.8) Knowledge of Lear's organizational rules, regulations, procedures, and practices
as needed to oversee processes.
4.3.9) Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal
service to include customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for
services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
4.3.10) Ability to analyze problems to include asking the appropriate questions and
gathering additional information in order to identify causes of and solutions to

4.5.2) Possess strong knowledge of TS16949 quality management system and quality
Certified TS 16949 Lead Auditor preferred; internal auditor certification
4.5.3) Possess strong knowledge of VDA 6.3
4.5.4) Possess application knowledge of FMEA, SPC, TQM, etc. methodology.
4.5.5) Possess strong analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
4.6) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
