Quality Control Chemist Technician I

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with raw material release.

  • Helps prepare monthly metrics for raw material release as needed.

  • Assist with sample and release of materials as needed.

  • Assist with wet chemical analysis of material as needed.

  • Maintain adequate inventory of supplies needed for all raw material sampling including but not limited to pipets, containers, and consumables.

  • Perform area cleaning and waste removal, as needed.

  • May assist in authoring, reviewing and updating SOPs as needed; understand and follow complex written procedures

  • Must follow good documentation practices in all aspects and phases of the work; provide reports for review in a timely manner; work with other lab personnel on projects and participate in Deviations and recommend possible corrective actions.

  • Maintain the safety and orderliness of the Quarantine Cage.

  • Reports excursion/out of specifications results to the QC Departmental Supervisor/Manager.

  • Provides OOS investigational support as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Apply knowledge of cGMPs on a daily basis, as applicable.

  • Follow all established laboratory, regulatory, safety, and environmental procedures.

  • Adhere to the standards of quality governed by current GMP's and the company Quality Policies and site SOPs.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments with little supervision.

  • Ability to accurately complete required documentation.

  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Ability to analyze raw data, assess assay and system suitability criteria.

  • Ability to follow safety procedures outlined in the Chemical Hygiene Plan.

  • Utilize MSDS sheets to properly assess chemical hazards, spill response procedures, and PPE requirements if indicated.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to work in a team or independent setting and collaborate with employees from various departments.

  • Computer proficiency required.

  • Excellent analytical skills.

  • Must have excellent organizational, written communication and oral communication skills.

  • Experience prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching.

  • Use hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment is required.

  • Ability to sit for long periods to work on a computer.

  • Potential for exposure to hazardous chemicals, gases, fumes, odors, mists, and dusts, and other hazardous materials.

  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment including safety glasses, lab coat, and gloves.

  • Ability to work weekends and off-shift hours as needed to support manufacturing activities.

  • Attendance is mandatory.

  • Ability to lift 20 30 lbs involving the movement of raw materials within the quarantine cage.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED with 2 years of experience; OR
  • Associates degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in science, supply chain, and/or related discipline

  • GMP/GLP experience

  • Biotech Certificate

Salary: Starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

Close coordination with University maintenance sections for implementation and troubleshooting control strategies that reduce energy consumption and save money. Required Education and Experience: * High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Six years experience in heating ventilation and air conditioning design or automated building operation control systems. Required Licenses, Certifications and Registrations: * Valid Texas Class "C" driver license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment. This position will be subject to yearly motor vehicle record checks. Required Knowledge and Skills: * Knowledge of DDC and pneumatic HVAC controls, calibration techniques, air balancing, indoor air quality requirements and metering of energy use. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. * Active participation and completion of the Utilities Control System Technician section of the TAMU Control Technician Training Program within 6 month of employment. Preferred Education and Experience: * Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering. * Experience maintaining automated building operation control systems in a multi-facility campus or university setting, experience in air and water balance of HVAC systems. Preferred Licenses, Certifications and Registrations: * Certified Energy Manager. Preferred Knowledge and Skills: * Capable of interpreting building plans and specifications. Knowledge of control system process language. Knowledge of pump curves and FAN laws. * Experience working with electronic data loggers, power quality meters, and analysis tools. Responsibilities: * PROGRAMMING: Takes a primary role in the operation of the Energy Management System in the areas operating platform, trending, scheduling, modular building controllers, work station operations, PPCL programming and laboratory controls. * REPAIR & REPLACEMENT: Assists in and acts as a resource for the proper repair and replacement of mechanical/electrical sensors, and other control or metering devices. Maintains communication with remote metering and communication devices. This may require driving a university vehicle to various buildings on campus. * GATHER & ANALYZE DATA: Gather and analyze information from mechanical and electrical HVAC systems needed to evaluate proper operation such as air temperatures, air pressures, water temperature, water pressures, fan and motor RMP, Kwh, Kw, volts, amps, CT s, PT s, etc. * HOT / COLD CALLS: Assists Area Maintenance with investigating and resolving hot/cold mechanical HVAC complaints.
