Quality Control Central Processing Operator

Quality Control CENTRAL PROCESSING OPERATOR - Berleley, CA

Purpose

Prepares and sterilizes a multitude of processing equipment for QC laboratories following established and detailed procedures. Cleans, assembles and sterilizes various apparati used in QC laboratories. Cleans and assembles various types of glassware for QC laboratories. Operates steam sterilizers, depyrogenation ovens, and equipment/glassware washers. Manages microbiological test media inventory.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports QC laboratories in the sterilization of laboratory equipment;

  • Replace, integrity test and troubleshoot sterilizer filters;

  • Operates valves and controls of steam sterilizer, equipment washers, and depyrogenation oven. Pressure gauges, electric carts, filtration equipment, pumps, wrench, pliers, mixers, heat sealers and other devices, as necessary. Works with inorganic and organic chemicals, various hand operated carts, volumetric equipment and crimpers;

  • Receives and stores incoming supplies to QC buildings and must be able to

carry and transfer to and from QC store rooms in B47 and B88;

  • As necessary cleans glassware, pans, tubing, etc. and assembles, deliver/stores as appropriate;

  • Checks materials and supply inventory required for routine operation of work area and request items be ordered;

  • Receive microbiological test media and other lab materials in Laboratory Inventory Management System (LIMS) and manages inventory in MS Excel;

  • Documents preparation of reagents and equipment, and operation of steam sterilizers and depyrogenation ovens;

  • Follows all good manufacturing practices and good laboratory practices, safety rules and department guidelines. Uses care and judgement in the use and handling of laboratory materials and equipment to maintain a compliant, safe, clean and orderly working environment;

  • Perform documentation and other duties according to cGMP rules and regulations using test records, logbooks, or computer systems. Maintains laboratory inventory;

  • Actively participate in relevant site initiatives such as: Behavior Based Safety (BBS) and Product Supply System (PSS);

  • Maintain current training status for assigned SOPs, SOP revision training, GMP and HSES training. Maintain minimum eighty-five percent (85%) qualification in Curriculu;.

  • Performs 5S and safety audits of lab area and maintains lab in a compliant state;

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires knowledge ordinarily acquired by high school graduation or an equivalent combination of education and experience;

  • Working knowledge and understanding of cGMP and global regulatory compliance;

  • Experience and competency with USP, EP, JP, ACS, FCC compendia/monographs;

  • Experience working in a Quality Control environment;

  • Demonstrable experience with commercial equipment washers, steam sterilizers and/or depyrogenation ovens required;

  • Read, write, speak, and comprehend English in order to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, SOP's, etc.;

  • Acceptable attendance and performance;

  • Work weekends, holidays and overtime as required;

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team;

  • Work independently and self-directed with minimal supervision;

  • Detail oriented with the ability to demonstrate good record keeping practices and ability to follow data integrity rules;

  • Ability to multitask, troubleshoot, use analytical judgment to plan and perform diversified work, making decisions within prescribed limitations, and good adaptability to changing business requirements in a dynamic corporate environment;

  • Work safely in an environment containing hazardous chemicals, high and low temperature liquids, high pressure liquids and gasses, steam, and moving machinery;

  • Strong computer skills required;

  • Follow directions, written or verbal;

  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);

  • Working knowledge of cGMP and global regulatory compliance;

  • Must be able to lift and carry 80 lbs., and push/pull up to 250 lbs;

  • Must be able to withstand frequent repetitive movement, stooping, crouching, kneeling, climbing (ladders), and sitting;

  • Must meet Occupational Demands/Physical Requirement checklist;

  • Must be able to stand for long periods;

  • Must be able to do repetitive bending, finger and hand/wrist movements;

  • Be able to withstand strong odors and wet working conditions;

  • Must be in good health and free of chronic respiratory ailments and skin disorders.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrable experience with LIMS, MS Excel, MS Word and other relevant software highly desirable;
  • SAP (or similar software) strongly preferred.

Employees can expect to be paid a union wage of $38.60 per hour. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc..

This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
