What you will do at Precinct One

Precinct One has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Assurance Technician in the Shared Services Divisions. The Quality Assurance technician will ensure that vehicles and equipment meet the established quality standards before they are released. Examine equipment and vehicles for defects or malfunctions, identify problems, and recommend improvements and solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Quality Assurance Technician will conduct quality control checks on vehicles and equipment to ensure compliance with established quality standards.

  • Inspect vehicles and equipment for defects, such as missing decals, frame damage, and other flaws.

  • Communicate with the Fleet Coordinator.

  • Identify problems and recommend solutions to improve quality, reliability, and safety.

  • Collaborate with other departments and fleet management to ensure that vehicles and equipment meet quality standards.

  • The Quality Assurance Technician will stay up to date with quality standards to ensure continuous improvement of customer service.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

What you will bring to Precinct One

Education:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent

Experience:

  • Three (3) years of related quality assurance experience in automotive/mechanical maintenance or related field

  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience may substitute for required years of experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Fleet Management Operation procedures

  • Knowledge of Fleetio system is beneficial

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • This is a physically active role. This role requires the ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.

  • This job operates in both an indoor and outdoor environment. Exposure to various weather conditions, temperature variations, loud noises, and possibly dangerous chemicals may be encountered.

About the Shared Services Division

The Shared Services Division's mission is to support the infrastructure that enables our staff to continue to improve the quality of life for our community, as well as provide access to our services. We ensure our facilities are safe and comfortable, that connectivity is maintained throughout our expansive service area, and that our equipment and vehicles are reliable.

About Precinct One

There are four precincts in Harris County. The four elected commissioners, along with an elected county judge, serve as members of Harris County Commissioners Court, the administrative head of the county's government.

With approximately 1.1 million residents, Harris County Precinct One is a diverse, urban precinct that covers 363 square miles. Precinct One's multi-racial, multi-ethnic population is roughly 39 percent African American, 37 percent Latino, 18 percent Anglo, 5 percent Asian, and 1 percent other.

Precinct One, which includes 876 miles of road, stretches south to Brazoria County and reaches into eastern and northern sections of Harris County. The Precinct's territory includes a large section of Downtown Houston, including the Downtown Harris County Courthouse Complex, Toyota Center, Minute Maid Park, and the BBVA Compass Stadium. Other notable landmarks include the 263-acre NRG Park Complex, the renowned Texas Medical Center, Rice University, Texas Southern University, the University of Houston's main and downtown campuses, and the University of St. Thomas. Precinct One is home to more than 20 county parks, 11 community centers, numerous hike-and-bike trails, three maintenance service centers, and several area offices, all of which provide an array of services to Precinct One residents.
