Role Overview

Quality Assurance Specialists (QAS) are members of a SCRUM team and are involved in the complete life-cycle of a software change. As a QAS you will participate in planning discussions with business stakeholders and development staff to determine how business problems and opportunities can be resolved/realized with enhancements to existing software and the creation of new software systems. Through the manual use and analysis of software systems deployed to QA you will identify errors in their design or implementation, and verbally communicate those flaws to the team while tracking the documented version electronically. When you designate a product is ready for release you will work with the end user or training department to create release notes and ensure that the product is understood, and that it will integrate seamlessly into Willis Towers Watson's operations. Once stakeholder and QA approval is in place, the QAS is responsible for conducting a production smoke test of deployed changes and triaging any error reports from operations concerning the use and adoption of the changes. As a QAS you will also be expected to "walk the process" by spending up to one day a week at our call-center operations personally triaging all errors that occur in production, and learning how to proxy the actions, behaviors, and mindset of the end user for any given software product you test. Location preferences are: Tempe, Arizona, South Jordan, Utah and Salt Lake City, Utah.

  • Analyze software products for defects and repeatedly test similar functions as subsequent iterations of the products are released.

  • Report problems in a professional manner and accurately assess potential risks associated with the software defects.

  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by the direct manager or other leadership personnel.

Qualifications

  • Four year college degree (or equivalent experience) preferred.

  • Prior experience testing or developing software products preferred.

  • Able to write SQL scripts preferred.

  • Prior experience with agile development preferred.

  • Adept with website and desktop application interaction.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Understanding of Health Insurance and Health Insurance industry preferred.

  • A self-motivated and self-directed learner.

Assist in the development of quality related goals and objectives. Conduct detailed inquiries into quality related issues to develop lessons learned and implement preventive measures. Actively support SDC’s continuous improvement initiatives.</p> <p>Perform quality control activities of data management and biostatistics set up, maintenance, and close out activities performed at SDC. Work with cross-functional department representatives to establish processes that reduce or eliminate systemic errors. </p> <p><strong>Primary Responsibilities: </strong></p> <ul> <li>Create quality control plans for data management and biostatistics activities</li> <li>Review all documentation created during the data management process to ensure adherence to SOPs, regulations and guidance; and document findings</li> <li>Lead data management quality control data audits, and produce reports summarizing the audits and findings</li> <li>Provide feedback to data management team pertaining to findings discovered during various quality process control and quality control audit activities</li> <li>Adhere to all aspects SDC’s quality system</li> <li>Conduct internal audits of study files, training files, facilities, etc. </li> <li>Help prepare, revise and control the company’s standard operating procedures (SOPs)</li> <li>Assist in the preparation and delivery of training courses to company personnel</li> <li>Assist in the investigation and reporting of quality assurance related issues, including root cause / corrective action identification, implementation, and long-term effectiveness monitoring.</li> <li>Comply with SDC’s data integrity &amp; business ethics requirements</li> <li>Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein</li> </ul> <p>The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this classification.
