Quality Assurance Specialists assess and evaluate the quality of services and implement quality initiatives that aim to improve the delivery of services that build better health and promote safe and thriving communities.

The current openings are in Epidemiology and Immunization Services Branch (EISB) of Public Health Services; however, the list established from this recruitment may be used by other departments.

HIRING TIMELINE AND DATES:

The timeline for this recruitment is outlined below.

  • Job Offer and Background Process begins: February 12, 2024, shortly after the interviews.

  • Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.

  • Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.

The quality candidate will possess:

  • A current California Registered Nurse license at the time of application.

  • Nursing and quality management experience in a hospital, long-term care or public health setting.

  • Understanding of Public Health Nursing clinical and field services and can translate knowledge to practical quality management tools for ongoing process improvement.

  • Experience with federal, state, and local audit practices and providing support to nursing staff to ensure ongoing operational excellence.

  • Experience leading a multidisciplinary team towards improved outcomes, utilizing evidence based quality management and reporting tools to enhance operations.

Possession of one or more of the following certificates is highly desirable, depending on the area of practice:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certificate

  • Mobile Intensive Care Nurse (MICN) Certificate

  • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) Certificate

  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) Certificate

  • Public Health Nurse (PHN) Certificate

  • Certified Correctional Health Professional (CCHP)

  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality or other Quality Improvement Certification

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A current California Registered Nurse license is required at the time of application, AND,

  • Three (3) years of full time registered nursing experience to include:

  • Eighteen (18) months of full time registered nursing experience in a relevant field; OR,

  • Eighteen (18) months performing quality assurance/improvement audits/activities for publicly funded health plans, managed care administrative service organizations, or nursing or prehospital care.

Note: Possession of a Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing or a related field is highly desirable.
