Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to perform QA functions is support of modernization efforts on US Navy Ships and US Merchant Navy Fleet. The position will be located at AECOM Office 5425 Robin Hood Rd. Norfolk, VA..

Essential Responsibilities:
Primary skills required are to perform quality control audits and inspections of work centers and ongoing maintenance actions, procedures, equipment on habitability systems onboard US Merchant Navy ships.

Demonstrate a working knowledge of the US Navy Ships and US Merchant Navy Fleet.

  • Ensure material and equipment procured meets the required specifications, develop required certification procedures and ensure procurement specifications are in accordance with naval requirements.

  • Provide quality assurance and inspections for maintenance, repair, testing, installation, modification, upgrade, or alteration on US Navy Ships and US Merchant Navy Fleet, military vessels and small crafts.

  • Interpret manufactures technical manuals, drawings, and Shipboard operational compliance procedures associated with quality control practices.

  • Follow quality inspection procedures, complete required maintenance forms, records, and update required reporting systems as necessary.

  • Instruct and demonstrate correct maintenance techniques and procedures.

  • Implements quality control procedures to ensure compliance with contract specifications.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum Education: High school diploma or a technical vocational high school degree.

  • Minimum Experience:

  • (a) Six (6) years of experience with quality assurance and inspection for maintenance, repair, testing installation, modification, upgrade or alteration of naval vessels.

  • (b) Two (2) years of experience with habitability systems, subsystems, equipment, components, furnishings and spaces

  • (c) Working knowledge of Naval and industry quality assurance standards, principles and practices.

  • Utilize computers including the Microsoft Office Suite for compiling information for reports.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally

  • Position may require travel.

  • A current Secret Clearance, or Secret Clearance eligibility within ninety-days (90) days after date of award, is required.

  • U.S. citizenship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified NDT (Nondestructive Testing) Level III inspector.
