QUALIFICATIONS: In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.

GS-05- General Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least three years of general experience, one year of which was equivalent to at least GS-04, which prepared you to do the work in this job. This includes experience in quality control; quality inspection; contracting and purchasing; supply and storage; industrial or production planning; research and engineering; maintenance; or test and evaluation that provided experience with quality assurance or related work; experience with product or process; experience interpreting and applying contract requirements and engineering specifications; or experience with others in person-to-person work relationships.

GS-07- Specialized experience is defined as: To qualify, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level (GS-05). Specialized experience is defined as: work that involves monitoring, controlling, or maintaining the quality of products or services such as: reviewing production activities and capabilities in light of contract quality requirements; OR reviewing written quality or inspection procedures for adequacy and evaluating the implementation and effectiveness of quality/inspection systems, including sampling plans; OR analyzing quality data to detect unsatisfactory trends or weaknesses in the quality/inspection system; OR verifying by test or inspection, using sampling inspection or intensive product inspection techniques, that products comply with requirements prior to acceptance; OR identifying inadequacies and requesting corrective action; OR computing data, summarizing results, and preparing reports or charts depicting pertinent relationships using statistical methods; OR investigating customer complaints and deficiency reports, and providing identification of causes to appropriate authorities; OR reading, interpreting, and applying technical data such as blueprints, engineering drawings, product specifications, or technical manuals; OR reviewing and evaluating supply systems operations and procedures through periodic audits and surveillance inspections.

Education can be substituted for experience.

As an Associate Quality Engineer in Moog's Space and Defense Group you can expect to: Responsibility for the planning, implementation and administration of cost effective Quality Programs to assure that a system is in place which will meet or exceed contractual quality requirements and provide the required level of protection to Moog and its Customers. Must assure optimum utilization of manpower resources in achievement of corporate and divisional production objectives. Here's what you'll work on: * Inspection Planning: Develop noncomplex production inspection plans for receiving inspection, manufacturing, assembly & test, engineering procedures, and first article inspections. * Quality Planning: Implementation, and administration of cost effective and unique Quality Programs. These activities require the maintenance of traceability plans, contamination plans, configuration control plans for hardware & computer software, control of associated documentation, and the administration of other written plans requiring customer approval. * Contract Compliance: Maintain compliance with contractual changes related to quality including coordination of customer, government, regulatory agency audits, and flow down of contract requirements to suppliers and appropriate Moog disciplines. * Project Engineering: The Associate Quality Engineer performs varied technical tasks which are non-routine such as product improvement studies or process improvement studies. These studies require the use of analysis techniques such as SPC, simple statistics, and basic capability studies and regression and Design of Experiments. * Training: Train and educate functional groups in program specific contractual quality requirements. * Program Support: Provide technical assistance to Manufacturing, A & T, Vendors, Customers, and other Engineering disciplines in the resolution of fabrication, and field related problems. This support typically requires the application of a structured approach to problem solving. * Failure Analysis/Corrective Action: The Associate Quality Engineer is responsible to support Failure analysis by utilizing his organizational, technical knowledge, analytical and communication skills. The end result is to find the root cause and implement closed loop corrective action. Qualifications: * This position requires a Bachelor's of Science degree in an Engineering/Analytical/Scientific field or a Bachelors of Technology Degree with three years' experience.
