Actively contribute to the development, implementation and maintenance of company food safety and quality programs to ensure our customers have a great experience with our sandwich products.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
EAS Food Safety & Quality
Execute assigned food safety, quality and continuous improvement activities to support the SQF Code requirements as updated.
Develop, execute and maintain the CAR process for supplier quality, operations food safety & quality issues, and customer complaints.
Obtain information regarding quality issues via Redzone RMIF, emails, and DMM.
Complete the Corrective Action Request form and communicate issues to suppliers or operations as appropriate. Copy Production Management, Purchasing, Planning, and Food Safety groups.
Review responses and save in the CAR file.
Follow up when more information is required to close the CAR.
Execute supplier defective transactions and ensure affected product is destroyed or returned to the supplier.
Follow up on supplier questions regarding invoice deductions/short pay issues.
Track information for the Supplier Score Cards.
Follow up on customer, consumer and route complaints. The CAR process may be used when issues are the result of operations failure.
Summarize customer complaint data each from JDE E1 each quarter, analyzing the data for trends. Issue completed report to FSQ personnel, Operations Management, Director of R&D.
Train as a backup for the FSQ Supervisor. Completing functions such as:
Review quality checks, microbiology documentation, and sanitation documentation in Redzone and complete sign off.
Complete pre-shipment reviews (CCP metal detection, allergen sequencing, allergen statement on label) for Target products.
Communicate sanitation issue to the sanitation supervisor follow up.
Work with the Quality Control Lead to respond to quality issues in RTE production, prep room and storage areas.
Manage the hold program at Annandale, including working with JDE E1, physically managing inventory, and updating the hold log.
Attend daily floor huddles as well as DMM to update the team on quality issues.
Ensure accurate shipping of swabs to Eden Prairie.
Use lab equipment such as pipettes, autoclave, etc. to prepare environmental monitoring swabs.
Create and update GMP training materials for Operations new hire orientation, refresher and maintenance training. Work with 3 shift sanitation manager to create GMP refresher training.
Present new hire GMP training as scheduled by HR.
Coordinate and present GMP refresher training for operations and related personnel three times per year and for new hires as scheduled.
Coordinate and present maintenance GMP training for new maintenance personnel and annual refresher training.
Update GMP slides for Deli vision monthly.
Help update GMP boards in hallway to lunchroom and GMP room entrance.
Provide 3-4 GMP slides to Deli Vision monthly.
Update the training matrix for annual training of pre-requisite and preventive control program training.
Track re-training provided to employees as a means of preventive action.
Monitor employees for GMP compliance and record infractions into the Redzone checklist.
Cooperate with all aspects of the safety program at E. A. Sween Company
Follow employer safety and health rules, policies and standard work.
Complete the mandatory E. A. Sween Safety Training Sessions.
Report near miss conditions to my supervisor or the safety team.
Maintain 6S in your work environment.
Be an active member of the safety team.
Provide one safety slide for Deli Vision monthly.
Professionally represent EAS to our supplier, industry and government.
Enhance qualifications for the Quality Control Auditor position by attending related seminars or classes as directed by supervisor.
Support lean initiatives by participating on teams and following the team process.
BS degree in Food Science or biological science preferred or 1-2 years of Quality Assurance experience in the food industry
HACCP or PCQI preferred. Certification is required within 3 months of employment.
Experience training employees regarding GMP preferred
Knowledge of MAP (Modified Atmosphere Packaging) desired
Knowledge of SQF principles desired
Computer skills required (Windows, MS Word, MS Excel)
Basic math, problem solving skills, aptitude for cloud based technology and good organizational skills are required
Attention to detail and legible writing is a must for documentation
Must be able to work independently and as a part of a team
All hires will need to successfully pass a drug screen and background check

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Must be able to lift waist high and carry up to 35 pounds.

Must be able to work overtime including some weekends and early mornings
