The Position

Quality Assurance Specialists design and implement a comprehensive quality assurance program encompassing clinical and related disciplines at a mental health hospital, residential care facility or community-based program or service for individuals with intellectual disabilities who may also have significant physical and/or mental health issues [problems], rehabilitation facility, or a clinic which provides outpatient medical and psychological services, or the medical system for the Department of Corrections.

Quality Assurance Specialist III's design, implement, and oversee a comprehensive quality assurance program encompassing community-based programs and inpatient services at a mental health hospital or residential facility for individuals with developmental disabilities who may have significant physical and/or mental health problems.

This position is located at Casa Grande Transitional Housing (CGTH), with the Nevada Department of Corrections, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The incumbent will design, implement, and oversee a comprehensive quality assurance program encompassing community-based re-entry programs and services within a mental health or residential setting for individuals who may have mental health, substance abuse, or re-entry related issues.

The incumbent will interpret State and federal regulations regarding licensure, certification, health and safety; lead and participate in evaluation of facility, program and/or agency policies, procedures and practices in relation to internal and external rules, regulations, and accreditation standards; identify problems relating to treatment methodology, standards of care, and services; conduct audits and prepare reports as requested; serve as liaison to regulatory agencies to achieve licensure; and supervise professional, technical, and clerical staff as assigned. * THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, social work, human development, special education, health science, public health, or other behavioral or social science and four years of professional experience performing program evaluation, quality assurance/improvement, and/or utilization review activities for a human services program or agency; OR two years of experience as a Quality Assurance Specialist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience, above the Bachelor's degree level, as described above. Special Requirements A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.

Duties include casework services, investigations, tracking and monitoring assigned parolees and probationers, pre-sentence investigations, determination of restitution and supervision fees, and referral services for the assigned unit. Positions in this series obtain and verify information; prepare and process case files and recommend appropriate action; and monitor offender activities. Incumbents are not Peace Officer's Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) certified and do not perform law enforcement functions such as conducting field inspections of offenders' worksite or residence, conducting surveillance, searches and arrests, or transporting prisoners to court or detention facilities. Parole & Probation Specialist III's prepare pre-sentencing reports and recommendations at the fully trained level in the Court Services Unit, or serve as leadworker to other specialists in the Interstate Compact or Pre-Release Unit. Incumbents prepare Pre-Sentence Investigation Reports for the court prior to the sentencing of an individual convicted of a crime. These multi-page reports include a narrative of the offense(s) and recommendations to the judge; applying the appropriate statutory regulations to the offense(s). This requires interviewing convicted offenders to collect their social history and can occur in a prison, office setting, day reporting center, or at the local jail. The successful candidate will have superior written communication skills including grammar, sentence structure, punctuation, and spelling with minimal corrections required; experience interviewing persons to elicit information; strong organizational skills; and the ability to meet multiple deadlines using good prioritization skills.
