Job Description:

Ready to put your scientific expertise to work in detecting biological threat agents, both natural and man-made domestically and across the globe? We are seeking a Biological Scientist/Program Manager to support and facilitate biological research for the rapid detection of infectious diseases of global importance and the enhancement of global disease surveillance for early pathogen detection and response. This position resides at Fort Detrick in Fredrick, MD and will support the Biological Defense Research Directorate (BDRD) in the Molecular Diagnostics (MD) Department.

Responsibilities:

Supports research and development, reagent production and quality management of molecular diagnostics, including, but not limited to production of real-time polymerase chain reaction assays, molecular assay development and platform test and evaluation, provide and evaluate proficiency testing for biological threats, laboratory and field support for biological threat agent detection.

Education/Experience:

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree, or equivalent experience in a biological science field and quality management

• Experience:

• 5 years of practical experience in molecular biology and quality management is considered essential

• Must have demonstrated the ability to independently operate and exercise an ISO accredited laboratory quality system, to include writing standard operating procedures and reports, conducting training, reviewing data, interfacing with outside accrediting bodies in preparation of annual audits and conducting internal audits, assist production manager in all aspects of daily operations, continually upgrade and improve production database records, and devise budgets

• Well versed in the use of Filemaker database

• At least 5 years of experience in the field of quality management in an ISO 17034/17025 accredited reagent production laboratory

• Must currently possess or be able to pass all criteria for a Secret security clearance

Salary Range:

$70,500.00 - $123,400.00
