Quality Assurance Manager (Finished Product), GMP

The Role:

Moderna is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager for a position based at their Norwood, MA manufacturing site. This position is part of Moderna's Quality Assurance team responsible for ensuring quality oversight of our mRNA platform in cGMP Manufacturing. The main responsibility for this position is to provide quality oversight of Drug Product filling at the Norwood Site. The individual will work closely with Analytical Development, Process Development, Manufacturing, Materials Management, Quality Control, Digital, and the Manufacturing Science and Technology teams.

This position will also support the successful launch of Phase I and II products to the clinic in a timely manner. Ensure quality oversight is phase appropriate and scale-able. Assist in the startup of clinical drug product cGMP manufacturing operations at Moderna's new facility in Norwood, MA.

Success in this position requires expertise in all aspects of aseptic drug product manufacturing, the ability to work hands on, and the ability to collaborate in a cross-functional, fast paced environment.

Here's What You'll Do:

  • Authors and reviews SOPs and policies. Create and establish process and procedures to ensure compliance and adherence to regulations and cGMP operations.

  • Identifies, classifies and reports deviations, as appropriate and typically works on more complex minor and/or major deviations. Oversees execution of remediation/CAPA activities required to continue production, move a process to the next mile stone. Works closely with others to determine root cause and potential preventative/corrective actions. Ensure timely closure of investigations.

  • Responsible for providing quality oversight to the change management system for change controls related to filling process of Drug Product. This includes providing plan creation oversight, verifying that changes adhere to SOPs and regulatory compliance.

  • Ensures all specifications are met and that applicable requirements are completed and acceptable.

  • Participate in quality oversight of manufacturing and testing, real-time observations of activities.

  • Work closely with others to recognize opportunities for improvement and drive change through the use of Quality systems.

  • Participate in internal audits for compliance with SOPs, GMPs, and regulations.

  • Other activities as deemed necessary

Here's What You'll Bring to the Table:

  • Requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree (engineering or scientific discipline)

  • Quality assurance experience in pharmaceutical industry providing oversight to Drug Product filling activities 8-10 with BS degree, 5-8 years of experience with MS degree or 0-2 years of experience with PhD degree

  • Ability to translate complex issues into a meaningful set of recommendations

  • Demonstrated knowledge of cGMPs in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong independent judgement and decision-making abilities

  • Demonstrated problem detection and problem resolution skills

  • Must possess demonstrated organizational skills

  • Must possess excellent verbal and written

Agios has two approved oncology precision medicines and multiple first-in-class investigational therapies in clinical and/or preclinical development. We are currently seeking a Sr. Manager, GMP Quality Assurance – Clinical Packaging and Labeling. This individual will have the overall responsibility to maintain high quality levels on Agios packaged drug products and finished goods by Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs). This Quality Assurance professional must provide leadership to QA clinical packaging and labeling team, and will assure the company, its affiliates and/or contractors associated with packaging, labeling, and distribution of products used for investigational clinical trials comply with cGMPs and standards as well as regulations of applicable authorities. Reporting to the Associate Director, GMP Quality Assurance, this individual will have further responsibility to: * Conduct product release activities for packaged drug product and finished goods for Phase I-III global clinical trials including review and approval of Master Batch Records along with executed batch records. * Effectively manage/develop the QA clinical packaging and labeling team. Organize and coordinate QA operational packaging and labeling resources and schedule. Work collaboratively with key stakeholders on drug packaging/labeling strategies and plans to ensure investigational product releases within timelines. * Identify and implement/drive programs for the continuous improvement of internal process and vendors to achieve sustainable performance. * Represent Agios QA on external CMOs project teams. Manage relationships with CMOs. This may include periodic visits to CMOs, as required. * Provide oversight on QP release, and continuous improvement of QP release processes and strategies. * Effectively interact with external contract packagers/labelers and ID testing laboratories as well as work as part of an internal multidisciplinary team to support packaging/labeling, testing, and product complaint investigations. * Manage and address associated investigations, CAPAs, change controls, OOS, Material Review Boards, etc. * Quality Metrics – participate in metrics, reporting, reviewing, and trending of cGMP-related Quality Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in support of the QMS. * Implement necessary Quality Agreements * Assist in preparing or reviewing CMC sections of regulatory submissions * Conduct audits of CMOs and/or ID Testing Laboratories * Provide QA support for regulatory inspections. * Provide QA expertise in the development of Agios quality systems, processes and procedures. * Both domestic and international travel will be required (10%) Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, life sciences or a related field. 8-10+ years of direct Quality Assurance experience in a cGMP environment, with minimum of 5 year experience related to global clinical packaging and labeling. * Strong knowledge of cGMP regulations, practices and trends pertaining to pharmaceutical product development, manufacturing, packaging/labeling, testing, and clinical operations. * Candidate must have previous supervisory / people management experience. * Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in determining solutions and actions. * Demonstrates ability to identify and recognize quality issues that will result in critical delays in schedule or operations and may jeopardize overall business activities. * Knowledge of drug substance, drug product, finished goods; and solid dosage packaging principles, equipment and processes. * Experience working with CMOs preferred.
