Abbott Diabetes Care is looking for a QA Manager of Data Analysis to manage our team of data analysts and be responsible for creating, revising and implementing metrics and KPIs for the divisional and/or corporate leadership. This person will report into our Manager of Product Quality Engineering (PQE).


  • Responsible for communicating KPI's and product performance to local and divisional senior management.

  • Responsible for ensuring that the group generates and reports metrics (e.g. complaints and product performance) to help to identify potential issues and areas for improvement (e.g. Design or Operations functions).

  • To ensure the team monitors product performance in the field and translates the performance information into metrics to support product improvements for the division's manufactured and distributed product.

  • To manage and develop a team of employees within the managers area of responsibility and be accountable for their performance whilst providing direction to ensure metrics (e.g. complaint metrics) are generated and necessary work performed in a timely manner (e.g. complaint investigations), maintaining regulatory compliance and optimizing productivity.

  • To manage the Analysis Team in accordance with established divisional and Abbott procedures, ensuring compliance to FDA, ISO and worldwide regulations.

  • To manage the effective tracking and trending of necessary metrics (e.g. complaints and follow up investigations) in a timely manner in accordance with divisional requirements ensuring compliance to applicable regulations.

  • Seek ways to drive through improvements in terms of productivity, quality and cost control in line with Business Excellence initiatives.

  • To ensure the Data Analysis team monitors product performance in the field and translates the performance information into metrics to support product improvements for divisional manufactured and distributed product.

  • Generate local and world wide monthly trend reports, produce trend related queries and ensure trend procedures are in accordance to divisional and corporate requirements and meet appropriate regulatory guidelines and regulations (e.g. FDA, ISO 13485, & Medical Device/IVD).

  • Oversee the investigation into all trends highlighted as part of the monthly process, and highlight any significant unresolved issues to senior management as required.

  • Prepare and present complaint information for Management Review.


  • B.S. degree in a technical or analytical discipline

  • 5+ years experience in an FDA/ISO regulated environment

  • Preferred: Demonstrated experience in leading teams, organizing and managing projects and developing/coaching/guiding team members (either direct and indirect reports)

  • Experience of product performance monitoring activities in a relevant industry/discipline

  • Data Analysis experience preferred

  • Strong presentation skills

Assists in the management of Exelixis partnerships and collaborations. Assists in conducting audits of vendors and associated documentation activities. Exelixis is located in Alameda, CA. Position Requirements ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Develops, establishes and maintains the QA programs, policies, and procedures to ensure GMP compliance of commercial and clinical trial material. * Performs record review, and disposition activities for commercial and clinical trial material including conducting the comprehensive Quality assessment. * Coordinates investigations with vendors and interdepartmental teams to resolve potential product quality issues. * Oversees the generation, review and/or approval of internal and external documents used in GMP activities. * Acts as a QA contact with vendors, contract facilities and joint development collaborators for contracts, validation activities, change management and other QA issues. * Supports the implementation of other quality systems, including departmental and corporate procedures, to ensure compliance with GMPs. * Understands regulatory agency policies and guidance as it pertains to QA issues. * Assists in monitoring current and proposed quality and scientific issues and advises supervisor on events for Exelixis. * Provides support as needed for the review of manufacturing, testing and labeling/packaging batch records, and CMC documents submitted to regulatory agencies. * Authors work instructions and standard operating procedures. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: * None EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: Education: * BS/BA degree in related discipline and five years of related experience; or, * MS/MA degree in related discipline and three years of related experience; or, * PhD in related discipline and one year of related experience, or; * Equivalent combination of education and experience. * May require certification in assigned area. Experience: * Experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry is preferred. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: * Working knowledge of the commercial and clinical manufacturing and quality processes, including US and EU regulations affecting the pharmaceutical industry. * Has extensive experience in a virtual manufacturing environment or relevant industry/profession . * Small molecule technical knowledge required. Oral solid dosage form strongly desired. Familiarity with serialization is desired. * Uses broad expertise or unique knowledge and skills to contribute to development of company objectives and principles, and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways. * Develops technical solutions to complex problems. * Identifies and implements methods, techniques, procedures and evaluation criteria to achieve results. * Guides the successful completion of major programs, projects and/or functions. * Interprets, executes and recommends modifications to companywide policies and/or divisional programs. * Has complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, concepts and techniques. * Attention to detail when utilizing PC or reviewing documents and editing/proof-reading documents. * Has extensive knowledge of other related disciplines. * Applies strong analytical and business communication skills. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Must be proficient in Word, Exel and PowerPoint.
