Key Responsibilities:

  • PERFORM DIMENSIONAL AND VISUAL INSPECTIONS FOLLOWING STANDARDIZED METHODS AND ESTABLISHED TECHNIQUES, WHICH MAY INVOLVE SURFACE PLATE WORK, OR STANDARD MEASURING TECHNIQUES TO VERIFY ACCURACY OF PARTS, TOOLS, GAGES OR OTHER EQUIPMENT.
  • ACCEPT OR REJECT MATERIAL BASED ON FINDINGS.
  • WORK FROM APPLICABLE WRITTEN INSPECTION PROCEDURES DRAWINGS AND OTHER PERTINENT INSTRUCTIONS TO PLAN AND PERFORM DIMENSIONAL AND VISUAL INSPECTION ON PARTS TOOLS, GAGES AND OTHER EQUIPMENT, ACCEPTING MATERIAL OR REFERRING FOR REWORK OR QUALITY REVIEW BASED ON FINDINGS.
  • USE A VARIETY OF FIXED AND VARIABLE MEASURING INSTRUMENTS INCLUDING AUTOMATED MEASURING
  • MACHINES WHERE PROGRAM INSTRUCTIONS ARE WELL DEFINED TO CHECK DIMENSIONS AND RECORD RESULTS. PERFORM NECESSARY MATHEMATICAL COMPUTATIONS TO DETERMINE EXTENT OF NONCONFORMANCE AND COMPLETE APPROPRIATE PAPERWORK.
  • FOLLOW PROPER PROCEDURES TO PERFORM IN-LINE CHECKS AND VERIFICATION OF DIMENSIONS AND MAKE SURE THAT OPERATION SHEETS ARE BEING FOLLOWED.
  • RECOGNIZE NEED AND ARRANGE FOR REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF EQUIPMENT USED IN PERFORMING THE WORK AS NECESSARY.
  • PERFORM ROUTINE SERVICING THROUGHOUT ASSIGNED AREA FOLLOWING SPECIFIED PROCEDURES AND WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS SUCH AS INSPECTOR'S CHECK LIST FOR UPKEEP AND ASSURE EQUIPMENT OPERATES PROPERLY.
  • ASSIST OTHERS WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR SPECIALIZED INSPECTION PROCESSES SUCH AS THOSE FOUND IN STATISTICAL PROCESS CONTROL OR OTHER SIMILAR QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAMS, THE INVESTIGATION OF UNUSUAL NONCHANGED INSPECTION SEQUENCES AND OTHER SPECIALIZED ASSIGNMENTS WITHIN CONFORMANCE AND NEW OR CHANGED INSPECTION SEQUENCES AND OTHER SPECIALIZED ASSIGNMENTS WITHIN THE SCOPE AND SKILL LEVEL OF THIS JOB DESCRIPTION.
  • REFER DIFFICULTIES TO LEADER/SUPERVISOR.
  • MAY BE ASSIGNED TO CARRY OUT TASKS, NOT SPECIFICALLY LISTED, WITHIN THE SCOPE AND SKILL LEVEL OF THIS JOB DESCRIPTION IN SUPPORT OF DEPARTMENT OBJECTIVES AND TO DEVELOP INDIVIDUALS' SKILLS.

Basic Qualifications:

  • MUST BE ABLE TO WORK FROM DRAWINGS AND USE PRECISION MEASURING EQUIPMENT SUCH AS VERNIER CALIPERS AND HEIGHT GAGES, INDICATORS, SIZE BLOCKS AND SINE BARS.
  • MUST BE ABLE TO MAKE ARITHMETICAL CALCULATIONS INVOLVING THE USE OF DECIMALS AND FRACTIONS, ANGLES, SUBSTITUTION OF NUMBERS IN SIMPLE FORMULA.
  • 1 - 2 YEARS EXPERIENCE
  • US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED DUE TO GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS

As a Quality Assurance Technician, you will be responsible for the organization, review and processing of MRBs in all Missiles Systems programs as well as our Measuring & Memory and Machine shop in our Middletown, CT facility. Essential Duties and Responsibilities In this job you will: * Coordinate return to stock, rework, scrap and return to vendor activities using established procedures within our Non-conforming (NC) process. * Process non-conforming material documentation, and accurate transfer of non-conforming material within TIPQA and WDS. * Maintain proper MRB (Material Review Board)/Quarantine locations throughout all buildings. * Support containment activities such as stock sweeps within the facility when a non-conformance is identified. * Coordinate with Quality Engineers/ Manufacturing Engineers in forensics gathering and making sure all information is accurate. * Coordinate with multiple departments regarding return, rework, and/or replacement of non-conforming material. * Train associates in the processing of non-conforming materials. * Prepare daily reports to the TIER meeting to provide visibility to MRB status and movement as well as the weekly and monthly NC metrics. * Provide support on quality issues concerning both customers and internal programs to assure effective cause, corrective and preventative action. Monitor for continued effectiveness and ensure that root cause and corrective actions are fully track on the NC tracker for completion and closure. * Participate in program reviews and product cell meetings as required. Provide recommendations for improved contractual performance. May be required to plot measurements on control charts and histograms and report to management (ex. SPC, FPY). * Assist in the development and presentation of training programs, inspection visual work instructions as necessary. Guide inspection personnel as required. * Responsible for maintaining, and ensuring effective implementation of corrective actions. Responsible for maintaining MRB meetings. May be required to coordinate with suppliers /customers to communicate and explain non-conforming conditions. * Keep the MRB area clean, safe and organized. Qualifications * High School diploma or equivalent. * 1-3 years of related experience in a QA/Manufacturing environment. * Knowledge of AS9100 Quality Systems and MRB processes.
