CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Processing & Food Ingredients Division. We are looking for a Quality Assurance & Food Safety Manager to join our growing Sunflower Processing team. You will manage, develop and administer the Food Safety policies, GMP and HACCP programs for the facilities to ensure regulatory and industry compliance. You must be detail oriented with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, have the ability to multi-task, problem solve and have ability to work effectively in a broad range of environments.
Develop, administer and maintain applicable Food Safety Policies and related Standard Operating Procedures for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Safe Quality Food (SQF) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP).
Conduct Food Safety and Customer meetings.
Identify and implement appropriate Quality Assurance testing policies and procedures.
Conduct monthly GMP, HACCP and GFSI internal audits, procedures, paperwork and inspections.
Plan, lead and coordinate quality-related activities, including the product quality metrics analyses, and lead investigations relating to food safety and quality issues.
Have decision-making authority regarding exceptional products and food safety.
Lead and manage the development of food safety programs. Track the effectiveness of these programs including standards, training and quality documentation and strive for continuous improvements.
Coordinate with internal stakeholders and enterprise to ensure initiatives meet quality, regulatory and food safety standards.
Monitor and update of quality documents, procedures, work instructions, forms, raw material specifications, packaging, in-process products and finished products.
Effectively hire, train, manage, motivate and develop team.
Keep current on knowledge of all food and feed safety regulations and laws within the assigned region.
Participate in Industry associations as it relates to food and feed safety rules and regulations.
Travel as needed.
Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Engineering, Microbiology or Chemistry (relevant work experience may offset degree requirement)
4 plus years of experience to include:
Experience with food, food ingredient or feed production
External food safety audits such as (HACCP, GFSI, GMP)
2 plus years of management or supervisory experience
Knowledge of Global Food Safety Initiatives (GFSI) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP)
Knowledge of state and federal regulations: OSHA, EPA, EEO/AA
