Concept Solutions is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer for the Emergency Operations Network (EON). This position is part of a team of Information Technology (IT) professionals supporting the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Command, Control, and Communications (C3) office. EON provides FAA leadership with situational awareness 24/7, 365 days a year and is used to track and display data regarding over 4,600 aviation safety related events each month. This is a local remote position requiring periodic travel to the FAA HQ located in WDC.

Job summary

The Quality Assurance Engineer / Software Tester will design, implement and execute test plans, scenarios, scripts, or procedures against developed systems in an agile software development environment. Support a team of software developers to ensure customer requirements as documented in user stories and epics are met and are 508 compliant. Testing assignments include front-end and back-end solutions developed in C#, .NET, JavaScript, CSS, GIS (geographic information systems), and various application security and web development frameworks. Document and maintain software test cases and software defects in our DevOps system. Participate in Agile Stand Ups, technical exchange meetings, and release planning discussions.

Duties

• Design test plans, scenarios, scripts, or procedures

• Document software defects, using a bug tracking system, and report defects to software developers

• Identify, analyze, and document problems with program function, output, online screen, or content

• Develop testing programs that address areas such as database impacts, software scenarios, regression testing, negative testing, error or bug retests, or usability

• Participate in product design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, product designs, schedules, or potential problems.

• Document test procedures to ensure replication and compliance with standards.

• Plan test schedules or strategies in accordance with project scope or delivery dates.

• Conduct software compatibility tests with programs, hardware, operating systems, or network environments.

• Test system modifications to prepare for implementation.

• Monitor bug resolution efforts and track successes.

• Review software documentation to ensure technical accuracy, compliance, or completeness, or to mitigate risks.

• Provide feedback and recommendations to developers on software usability and functionality.

• Update automated test scripts to ensure currency.

• Create or maintain databases of known test defects.

• Install, maintain, or use software testing programs.

• Install and configure recreations of software production environments to allow testing of software performance.

• Monitor program performance to ensure efficient and problem-free operations.

• Identify program deviance from standards and suggest modifications to ensure compliance.

• Develop or specify standards, methods, or procedures to determine product quality or release readiness.

• Design or develop automated testing tools.

• Investigate customer problems referred by technical support.

• Conduct historical analyses of test results.

• Perform initial debugging procedures by reviewing configuration files, logs, or code pieces to determine breakdown source.

• Evaluate or recommend software for testing or bug tracking.

• Collaborate with field staff or customers to evaluate or diagnose problems and recommend possible solutions

Requirements

• BS/BA degree (in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field) or equivalent

• 5 or more years of demonstrable experience

• 8 additional years of experience can be substituted for a BS degree

• 3+ years of .NET/C# testing experience

• 3+ years of JavaScript experience with React.js or similar frameworks

• Working knowledge of HTML/CSS

• Strong communication and writing skills

• Experience with 508 testing

• US citizen with ability to obtain a Secret clearance

Nice to have

• Experience creating and modifying custom CI/CD pipelines for test automation (Azure DevOps preferred)

• Experience testing RESTful APIs

• SharePoint experience

• Interaction with SQL Server Database

• ArcGIS experience
