The Quality Assurance Engineer will be part of the Praxair Global Hydrogen Quality Assurance Group. In this support role, the Quality Assurance Engineer (QAE) will be responsible for performing all aspects of Quality Assurance Surveillance activities associated with the manufacturing of Praxair equipment and the erection of the Praxair Hydrogen Plants. This position will require the QAE to function with minimal supervision. The QAE will interact with Praxair Project Management and Engineering team to ensure successful execution of the Praxair Quality Management program.
Manage and guide the QA/QC activities during the execution of EP, EPC, and EPCM contracts in a manner that achieves the project quality requirements within the Quality Standards, Cost, and Schedule targets set by Praxair.
Ensure that all actions, works, and services undertaken by Suppliers, EP, EPC, and EPCM Contractor, are in accordance with the respective Contractual Agreement.
Ensure compliance with Praxair objectives, requirements, priorities, policies, procedures, standards, rules, regulations and guidelines provided by Praxair from time to time.
Ensure that cost effective solutions in engineering design are adopted while maintaining quality, constructability, operability and maintainability.
Ensure the project is built in conformance to the specified codes, standards, specifications, and jurisdictional requirements.
Conduct Quality surveillance audits during the different stages of project execution Engineering, Procurement, and Construction.
Oversee supplier and contractor QA/QC performance through spot and final inspections per ITP's.
Ensure provision of proper technical coordination and administration services to project management.
Ensuring that QA/QC culture is visible across all project at all levels.
Review and approve Suppliers, Contractor and Subcontractor quality programs including Project Specific Quality Plans and Inspection and Test Plans (ITP)
Monitor the fabrication, assembly, and construction erection activities and report any non-conformances and follow up on the required corrective and preventative actions.
Provide input to the collection of Lessons Learned for the project.
Position requires extensive travel, including international travel.
Minimum of 15 years' experience in the oil/gas industry. Minimum of 10 years of experience as an inspector or craftsman in related equipment manufacturing or construction. Prior certification as a Level II NDE Examiner (RTI, MT, PT, UT), and API - 510, AWS - CWI, is mandatory.
Demonstrated experience establishing project quality systems meeting the requirements of ISO 9001 for Quality Management Systems and able to develop, maintain and implement a QMS in accordance with that standard
Experience on large-scale capital projects performing regular inspections and audits
Has clearly demonstrated strong quality assurance competence
Ability to facilitate workshops to lead the project team through development of project quality procedures
Ability to work within a diverse cultural environment national and international
