Quality Assurance Engineer

Our client, a nationwide manufacturer of quality food ingredients and products, has an immediate need for an experienced Quality Assurance Engineer, to join their winning team in Jacksonville. Our candidate of choice will provide our operations team with effective leadership, guidance and communication.

The role will interact with all levels of internal and external (customer) leaders to resolve critical issues in a timely and effective manner. The quality responsibilities will extend to maintaining an effective Quality System through internal auditing and by addressing quality issues wherever they are discovered. We also aim to drive improvement by implementing effective Automated Optical Inspection of our output and other quality checks at all stages of production to assure quality products reach our customers.

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES: Manage Internal Audit schedule and grow the team of auditors. Manage the Equipment Calibration program.

Develop new AOI programs and de-bug/improve existing programs to reduce false negative callouts. Provide guidance on acceptable standards of workmanship. Ensure production operators follow documented instructions.

Investigate customer returns and drive appropriate corrective action. Perform reviews of new builds to ensure alignment with customer build specifications. Coaching and mentoring quality technicians on technical, leadership, communication, project management skills Champion a “zero defects” approach, proactively improving product/processes to eliminate internal rejections and customer escapes.

KEY REQUIREMENTS: BS/BA in Engineering, Business or other relevant technical discipline. Minimum 5 years’ applicable engineering, manufacturing and/or quality systems experience in a progressive manufacturing environment.

Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications. Possess written and oral communication skills necessary to interact with all levels of the organization. Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and/or other quality and process improvement tools.

Computer literacy/proficiency – the ability to use available tools for tracking down problems, identifying opportunities and measuring improvement. Strong team player with ability to influence and support cross functional team activities to improve product/process quality. Cross-functional experience in operations and at least one other functional area.

Good organizational skills. Must be proactive, self-starter, able to thrive in a dynamic and lean environment and deal creatively with resource constraint issues and uncertainty. Strong presence on the production floor continuously driving improvement.

Customer focus, meets expectations, internally and externally, forms partnerships. Knowledge of electronic assembly industry including regulatory requirements.
