The Quality Assurance Coordinator assist in QA activities designed to enforce policies, procedures and controls to assure that all products are prepared according to the Kraft Heinz, customer and regulatory requirements. The QA Lead will recommend improvements of technical issues while complying with all safety, QA and USDA regulations.
Assure compliance with all QA and Food Safety Kraft Heinz San Diego Policies, procedures and specifications in order to deliver superior product quality to our customers and consumers. Directs others and provide support in order to perform the following activities: daily in-process, ingredients and finished product testing and daily quality and food safety documents reviews.
This includes critical HACCP document verification, such as cooking, cooling and holding verifications. Provides support to QA Techs and/or carry out ongoing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) audits. This includes following-up on corrective /preventive actions in order to ensure process and product continuous improvement while controlling/minimizing any potential chemical, physical or microbiological risk to customers and consumers.
Lead his/her team by example and provide guidance/support on critical product quality and food safety decisions. Take samples of ingredients, products in process and finished product as needed, in order to evaluate and ensure quality and food safety. Reviews and/or support the QA technicians on process specifications during changes to new packaging and/or products for accuracy and acceptability.
Recommends and enforces corrective and preventive measures to improve Food Safety and Quality for all Kraft Heinz San Diego ingredients, packaging, material and finished product. Serve as a liaison with the USDA inspectors when the QA Manager/ Supervisor are not available in order to guide/support the inspector for information that is only pertaining to USDA Inspectors. Immediately notify the QA Manager for any USDA findings or requests.
Assist in plant R&D testing as needed and notify the QA Manager for any potential food safety or quality issue that could be introduced in the process as a result in a chemical, physical and microbiological risk. Notify the QA Manager for any potential food safety or quality issue that could be introduced in the process as a result of new ingredients or changes in equipments/processes. Notify the QA Manager for any required update of the HACCP Plan as a result of introduction of new ingredients or equipment in our process that could result in a chemical, physical or microbiological risk.
Assists in product, ingredients and packaging materials Mock Recall. Work on updating and improving his/her QRMP assigned standard and develop required procedures, records, training, corrective actions and performance monitoring related to that standard. Oversee and lead the implementation of the QRMP (Quality Risk Management Process) system and operational standards as outlined in the factory accountability list in order to achieve targeted RCR.
Assigned to any other project as required by the QA Manager. Ensure and/or provide support to the QA Techs for the organization of the QA laboratory, and good practices within the QA laboratory.
Prepares incident report investigation (Intelex) as needed. Daily HACCP reviews.
Pre-shipment reviews as needed. Ensure that all critical food safety and HACCP documents have been filed and/or provide support to the QA technicians.
Training & Development
Provide training to all Kraft heinz San Diego employees in Food Safety and Quality topics.
Establishes and practices positive discipline policies and procedures and works with HR to resolve disciplinary issues as needed. Observes and evaluates employee performance and provides appropriate performance feedback.
Budget and Cost Control
Assists in maintaining departmental operating budget at a positive variance. Participates in MDT, HGPS and CI meetings and projects oriented to reduce factory costs, improve product quality, food safety and safety programs with the guidance of the QA Manager as needed.
Ensures department adheres to established safety guidelines, policies, and procedures. Perform weekly safety audits.
Interprets and takes ownership of GMPs and food safety company standards. Must be able to provide recall information for raw material usage as well as disposals.
Coordinate with Quality Assurance on any product placed or released from hold status, raw materials as well as finished product. Participate in the QRMP yearly audit and assist in the development of procedures and corrective actions. Accountable for the QRMP (Quality Risk Management Process) system and operational standards as outlined in the plant accountability list in order to achieve targeted RCR.
Participates in the implementation of the factory's playbook, especially in the pillar assigned to the department, to ensure successful completion of all checklist items/actions within the playbook.
