Title: System Quality Assurance Analyst Senior / System QA Analyst

Work Location: Glen Allen VA – 23060 (Onsite, no remote work allowed)
Duration: 06 Months Contract (Possibility to convert to full-time based on performance and attendance)

Shift: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Job Description:

  • This position is responsible to develop thorough test plans for medium (relating to complexity) systems to ensure a smooth transition from a development environment to a production environment.
  • Responsible for testing, reviewing and learning medium (relating to complexity) functionality of software applications which are developed in house and those purchased form third party vendor.
  • Develops and maintains documented standards for quality acceptance in software.
  • Experience in and knowledge of the following testing tool sets/frameworks:
  • Heavy working SQL knowledge·
  • Experience in data manipulation languages to setup test data and verify results
  • Experience in Load, Extract and Interface testing required.
  • Strong knowledge of UNIX and commands
  • Knowledge of shell scripts/Perl
  • Knowledge in ETL or Informatica
  • UltraEdit/UltraCompare or other ability to manipulate/validate data in UNIX database
  • Able to work independently
  • Tools such as JIRA / Confluence Java
  • Hands on, working experience with automated testing tools (Cucumber / Selenium / Java)
  • Working knowledge and experience in AWS (certification preferred)

Essential Functions:

  • Develops and maintains documented standards for quality acceptance in software.
  • Develops test plans for medium systems to ensure application functionality meets original requirements to project.
  • Works closely with software development staff to test and review applications developed in house or purchased from third party vendor prior to installation.
  • Becomes knowledgeable of business applications systems as they are used within the business department, research and respond to application inquires.
  • Responsible for mentoring of Associate Quality Assurance Analyst.
  • Develops and maintains documented standards for quality acceptance of software
  • Maintains up to date test environment
  • Ensures end user documentation correlates with program functionality
  • Maintains an on going self study program to enhance QA skills and knowledge.

Important Note:

  • This is a data centric position, to make sure that the Unix environment is working and running successfully
  • MUST have AUTOMATION testing and be an expert in all testing methodology
  • Selenium/Java/Cucumber is a big plus
  • Prefer someone with Healthcare or financial background
  • Candidate MUST be an expert in both SQL and UNIX shell scripting

The role will support the end to end development of business solutions by assessing and improving quality assurance functions for delivery across the enterprise. The QA Analyst will help to formulate a QA strategy aligned with industry best practices and will participate in the selection and implementation of a testing automation tools and defining and implementing good overall testing practices. This position will also play a key role in the organization's digital transformation and help facilitate our transition from traditional reporting to a more dynamic, real-time analytics environment ensuring a strong foundation to deliver information to internal consumers at all levels of the organization. Position Accountabilities * Identify and implement quality assurance processes to establish a QA COE and support a digital strategy in a rapidly evolving organization * Help define a quality assurance approach and implement supporting quality standards and processes * Develop and support an overall testing approach and strategies to support multiple, complex projects in a multi-vendor environment * Provide expertise and input into the selection of testing automation tools and implementation of supporting processes * Establish testing processes, test cases and test tracking mechanisms to support the delivery of multiple enterprise data warehouse and reporting initiatives * Perform QA testing on code once it has been unit tested Organizational Relationship This position reports to Delivery Manager Requirements Position Qualifications Education & Experience * Bachelor's Degree in a technology related area of study; preferably in Computer Science, MIS or Analytics * Minimum of 5+ years of work experience with at least 3 years in an Information Technology Quality Assurance role * 1+ years of experience with SQL query tools * Experience in regression, end to end, data quality and system testing * Experience with Agile development methodologies * Extensive experience in quality assurance best practices Knowledge & Skills * Proficient in creating test cases, test queries, test data required for testing data migration projects with expertise in manual and automated testing of complex data movement between systems * Comprehensive knowledge of testing methodologies and application debugging from a technical and business perspective * Familiarity with data warehousing and programming concepts * Ability to write and execute queries and scripts to compare source to target and assess data quality and validate movement of data between systems * Excellent communication and collaboration skills * Comfortable working in a startup mode * Strong Analysis skills with the ability to understand interconnections and data relationships * Thrives in a fast-paced environment * Employs excellent analytical and communication skills * Energized by the idea of building an enterprise QA program from the ground up We are proud to be an EEO/AA employer, Minority/Female/Disability/Veteran.
