Quality Assurance Analyst - Language Learning Apps (Part-Time, Hybrid - Provo, Mtc))

This position is central to the missionaries' role to 'Invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end.' A Quality Assurance Tester is a entry support level individual contributor responsible for ensuring the quality of all applications produced by the Technology and Curriculum Department at the MTC. This position thoroughly examines, analyzes, and validates IT developed software products following uniform testing procedures. Features may range in complexity and may include language app content. Tester will document results and use designated systems and tools to track outcomes.

• To successfully perform the essential functions of the job, there may be physical requirements which need to be met such as sitting for long periods of time and using monitors/equipment.

Preferred:

• IT experience

• 1 years of software testing experience

• Language proficiency in Japanese, French, or Portuguese

• Learned a second language as a missionary

• Demonstrated ability to train new Software Quality Assurance Testers

• 1 year SQL experience

• 1 year SQL script writing experience

• 1 year experience with TALL and other language learning technology

• 1 years instructional design or tutoring/teaching experience

• Basic Database Skills

• Working knowledge of one or more technologies (e.g., Web, .Net, Graphical User Interface) or a willingness to learn

Reports to supervisor or manager in Training or Information and Communication Systems departments

May include some of the following, depending on skill and experience:

• Reviews and analyzes user requirements and specifications

• Collaborates with team members to develop effective strategies for test plans

• Creates and executes test cases manually and analyze the results

• Evaluates software functionality and product code according to specifications

• Tests for language content quality, usability, design fidelity, technical reliability, performance, and device compatibility

• Reports bugs and errors to development teams

• Helps troubleshoot and reproduce issues

• Works with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle

• Executes test cases (manual or automated) and analyze results

• Creates logs to document testing phases and defects

• Conducts post-release / post-implementation testing

• Provides feedback and assistance to IT management, software developers, UX/UI designers, and customers, to ensure the development and implementation of quality IT software.

• Analyzes, develops, and implements new or modified test plans, and applications for improving the quality of delivered application software across multiple computing environments.

• Recommends process improvements and works with process owners to determine and manage implementation strategy then assist with the roll-out.

• Assures the accurate description of application requirements through participation in application planning meetings.

• Conducts application demonstration sessions for Product Owners and other designated stake holders.

• Write queries to look for patterns of issues in our app content and in our user data.

May include other temporary assigned duties at the MTC (e.g. assisting with Mission Leadership Seminar)
