HopeHealth is seeking an experienced Quality and Compliance Manager for its affiliate Hope Hospice & Palliative Care Rhode Island. This position will be based in Providence, RI.

Under the supervision of the Vice President of Quality & Performance Improvement, this position has organization-wide responsibility for developing and updating tools and processes to support strong clinical quality and compliant practice. This position leads performance improvement activities throughout the organization in response to audit and survey findings. Position insures that audit processes, quality reporting metrics and external audit responses meet federal and state regulations and external accreditation requirements. Position manages direct reports within the department to maximize productivity, quality and response to internal and external customers' requests. Position serves as a resource to the leadership team in pursuit of excellent and compliant organizational performance.

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Assess for appropriate levels and feedback loops of the auditing processes which support regulatory, accreditation and clinical risk management structures in the organization.

  • Develop and update tools, processes and practices to support compliance in clinical, financial and administrative areas.

  • Creates audits and reporting tools to support Quality initiatives throughout the organization in collaboration with the VP Quality and/or leadership teams.

  • Assumes lead role in the coordination of survey process preparation and readiness; including CHAP, RI State and federal surveys.

  • Coordinates written response to external payer medical record audits (i.e. ADR, Part D, CERT or Part B audits etc.) and tracks and reports outcomes of responses.

  • Maintains all records and reports in formats accessible for use by external auditors and accreditation organizations.

  • Independently responsible for the ongoing function and output of the Policy and Procedure Committee; insuring organizational policies which meet all federal, state and organizational requirements. Manages contract feedback auditing and reporting process.

  • Collects and analyzes quality and audit data for Quality Department including National Hospice Workgroup benchmarking data, CMS reportables, (i.e.: HIS and CAHPS) and targeted internal metrics identified by the Board of Directors or senior leadership team.

  • Coordinates and responds to Level 2 Incidents and Complaints and maintains reporting process.

  • Assists and supports VP Quality in maximizing employee engagement in the Quality department and for promoting a customer focus in all departmental interactions.

  • Responsible for introductory reviews, annual reviews and performance management processes for direct reports.

Education / Experience

  • BSN/MSW; Master's Degree preferred.

  • Five (5) years healthcare experience with in-depth clinical knowledge to include a minimum of two years nursing experience in a Home Care/Hospice setting.

  • Manager/Supervisor experience.

  • At least three years of hospice experience

  • Experience with CHAP accreditation survey preferred.

  • Experience in quality improvement in a health care setting preferred

  • Highly effective communication skills

  • Technological expertise including Word, Excel and data mining from various sources

Under the direction of the Director of Quality and Compliance supports organization-wide compliance, quality and process improvement projects and initiatives. Access and utilize data from multiple sources, (including electronic medical records, SHP, audit tools, incident reporting, compliance reports), to create and maintain reports, dashboards and presentations that enhance quality improvement metrics and compliance initiatives through all departments in the organization. Responsibilities include: * Organizes multiple data inputs and creates comprehensive, targeted reports to support decision making at all levels of the organization; including senior leadership, managers and clinical teams. Interface with departments to collect and distribute data used to analyze and benchmark progress. * Maintain systems for reporting and analysis of complaints and incident frequency and mitigation. Supports the Quality & Compliance department in creation of annual compliance and quality plans, responses to external accrediting and auditing agencies and payers. Participates in annual policy updates, special projects with affiliated agencies and quality-based research initiatives. * Maintains and streamlines manager's system for reporting and response to fiscal intermediary and other external auditing agencies. Supports organization-wide survey and accreditation preparation and response initiatives. Collects monthly data and submits reports for ongoing benchmarking projects. * Collect information from various internal and external sources and information systems, compile the data, and summarize findings for monthly and ad-hoc information requests while meeting designated deadlines with high level of accuracy. * Creates and updates systems for quarterly distribution of data to teams including CAHPS/Joint Commission survey data, quality metrics, medical record audits, performance improvement projects and compliance data and reports. * Creatively responds to requests from managers for data to support operational decision making. * Support development of the annual quality and compliance plans and associated work plans. Prepare reports and analyses of trends with particular emphasis on presentation of findings and outcomes. * Prepare monthly reports to meet departmental and customer needs from various systems and reports. Interfaces with clinical management team to promote timely completion of documentation associated with these processes. * Manages all data associated with incident and complaint response and follow up. Creates and formats reports for presentations at Board and leadership meetings. * Organizes annual policy reviews across all departments and schedules quarterly policy and procedure committee meetings. * Completes scheduling and agenda preparation for quality & compliance integration team meetings and other committees as requested. * Work to support Quality& Compliance Department with the goal of meeting and exceeding department and customer needs. Interface with various departments and functions outside of the department. * Consistently apply the HopeHealth values in all aspects of work, complying with established HopeHealth mission, policies, procedures and objectives in quality assurance, safety, environment, infection control and HIPAA compliance. Education / Experience: * Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Math, Social Science, Healthcare, Science or related area. * One to three years' experience or equivalent combined work/educational experience with proficiency in data extraction, management, and presentation. * Experience in healthcare setting such as hospitals, hospice, homecare, or physician practice desired. * Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing Excel, Word, Windows, Outlook, Explorer and Power Point applications. * Knowledge of Excel functions, such as pivot tables and graphical presentation a plus Microsoft Access experience a plus. * Knowledge of flow charting and database applications a plus.
