Job Summary:The Quality Analyst is a key member of the Quality and Patient Safety Department. Leads projects of an advanced, complex nature that support the retrieval, analysis, and reporting of clinical, safety, and functional data.

Executes advanced knowledge and skills in data reporting, validation, and analysis. Supports decision making and provides insight into strategic performance improvement, patient safety, and other business decision making. Responsible for all data collection, interpretation and analysis, validation, and benchmarking of data as it relates to the performance of LLUMC-Murrieta.

Works closely with LLUMC-M Leadership, Medical Staff, and Quality Department to leverage knowledge to improve the quality and safety performance of LLUMC-M. Performs other duties as needed. Job Specifications:Knowledge and

Skills:

Advanced skills in word processing, Excel, personal computer use and knowledge of medical terminology, required. Knowledge of statistics and their use preferred. Advanced planning and organizational skills, critical thinking, setting and (quickly) resetting priorities, creation of suitable systems for complex maintenance and archiving of documents, anticipation of department needs for training or assistance.

Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position. Possess strong mathematical skills. Able to facilitate team process with initiation of data collection process and statistical tool use.

Mental abilities and interpersonal skills consistent with position requirements (as defined below and in the stated performance standards). Able to demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills; teaching ability initiative; ability to collaborate with other healthcare professionals. Organizational, discretional, and prioritizing skills essential, with the ability to manage multiple duties with close attention to detail. Analyze and interpret data, perform mathematical calculations, develop and follow-up on plans, work independently without direct supervision, observe and record observations.

Ability to interpret and act upon protocol instructions and criteria and to design/implement appropriate procedures to meet standards. Must be able to remember instructions. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.

Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in healthcare field or business required. Master's Degree in related field preferred.

Minimum three years of experience in healthcare quality related activities and data analysis required. Licensure, Certification, or Registration: Valid driver's license required.

Completion of MCSM (Midas Certified Systems Manager) certification within two years of hire required. Lean/Six Sigma Certificate preferred.

Basic Function: The Quality Engineer I is a professional who, in support of, and under limited supervision of the Quality Engineering Manager, applies the principles of product and service quality evaluation and control. This includes the application of Statistical Quality Control techniques, Design of Experiments, Metrology, Inspection, Test, and Audit of Quality Systems for deficiency identification and correction. The Quality Engineer I: * Performs moderately complex tasks to develop, apply, and maintain quality requirements for processing components and other materials into finished goods and products. * Plans the quality measurements and controls on materials, processes, and product to provide adequate control of quality at minimum quality related costs. * Analyzes quality information and feeds back analyses and recommendations for adjustment to product design, manufacturing process and equipment, and the quality system. * Applies statistical methods to diagnose and correct improper quality practices, workmanship and process problems. * On behalf of the Quality Assurance Manager, carries out essential steps in maintaining the company quality system. Job Requirements: Education: Completed Associate of Arts or Science Degree with continuing efforts toward completion of a Bachelor degree in Quality Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, the Basic Sciences or related fields. Experience: One to Three years of experience in one or more branches of Quality Assurance. Special Abilities and Complexity of Duties: * Strong skills in inspection, writing, interpersonal communications * Knowledge of Quality Assurance, Engineering, and Statistical Methods. * Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with challenging customers and suppliers * Skilled with interferometers, spectrophotometers, calipers, micrometers, Coordinate Measurement Machines, lasers and electronic test equipment. * American Society for Quality certification as a Quality Engineer preferred.
