Scope & Impact

You will work autonomously in an embedded Agile environment as an integral and equal part of a multi-discipline team. You will be involved in the development process from design to implementation to release:

  • balance the daily demands of player issues and community feedback while maintaining steady velocity toward the development of the next release
  • work within a small nimble team where roles often expand to cover multiple disciplines
  • coordinate across multiple teams and central services to meet aggressive deadlines, analyze risk, and provide mitigation plans
  • communicate effectively through various media to ensure team alignment
  • drive early quality feedback via design discussion and planning meetings
  • identify and build test plans for coverage of the feature, including necessary tools
  • collaborate with Engineering to test early and verify the functionality
  • partner with remote test teams to enable an optimized test plan of the integrated features
  • use data to communicate the overall quality status of the features and report any associated risks

You will provide feedback on the quality of the game, identify improvements to tools and workflow and champion quality-first development practices.

Like all PopCap QV team members, you will share findings and insights within your team and across the studio. As part of the EA QV team, you will have access to a vast network of teams around the globe and the opportunity to learn from diverse studios and genres.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • 2+ years of relevant QV experience including embedded QV methodologies

  • Deep understanding of the software development process: build systems, continuous integration, unit tests, code / data dependencies

  • Ability to find root causes of issues by using tools to investigate common software debug artifacts (callstacks, exceptions, asserts, network calls, logs)

  • Well-practiced in Agile Development and optimizing the test process including successful application of defect prevention and containment

  • Experience supporting a Game as a Live Service including binary releases, server-driven pushes, and scheduled events.

  • Proficiency with JIRA and development tools such as Perforce and Jenkins

  • Excellent ability to multi-task conflicting demands based on project status and timelines

  • A passion for gaming and the ability to critically evaluate the design, art and economy that influence player behavior.

The City's consolidated IT operation is 700 strong providing professional technology services across City government and beyond. Job Responsibilities:Position Overview The IT Operations Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst will coordinate testing, validation, and user acceptance testing for projects specifically related to Seattle IT Engineering & Operations. The position requires extensive experience with testing approaches and methodologies, especially in relation to compatibility with operating systems, desktop packages, and database interoperability. Also required is in-depth understanding of QA testing principles and strategies, including test plan development, traceability, defect management, and the effectiveness of quality through metrics. This person will work closely with engineering and operations teams on various infrastructure, systems and end user related projects, including operating system upgrades, security upgrades, Active Directory domain migrations, SQL Server upgrades, and other technology implementations undertaken by Engineering and Operations staff. The position will also coordinate closely with the Applications division QA testers and Manager to ensure adherence to established standards and requirements. This position will participate in and support IT Engineering & Operations project activities, including: * work with technical tools for analysis, planning, and reporting; * define technology-specific test scenarios and use cases for testing and validation; * write technical instructions and procedures for knowledge transfer; * assist with project communication and coordination with City customers and technical teams; * function as liaison to IT application staff and IT customers for testing and validation activities. Testing activities will be oriented to baseline testing for operations and will coordinate with QA staff in Seattle IT Applications for additional in-depth functional testing of applications managed by the Applications Division. Qualifications:NOTE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered for the required qualifications except where specifically noted. * In depth experience in Software Quality Assurance, Software Testing and Automation Testing. * Demonstrable experience in test planning, execution, traceability, and reporting.
