Qualitative Design Researcher + Strategist
Founded in 2011, Capital One Labs is the company's experimental product & technology incubator and accelerator. It's a startup culture with the financial backing of a Fortune 200 company. With teams in NYC and DC, Labs is a cross-functional team of product managers, designers, developers, and other innovators who are committed to delivering revolutionary innovation that challenges how we all interact with our money.
In this exciting role, you will lead research initiatives across labs product teams and play an integral part in informing our new product concepts. The ideal candidate is insanely curious about consumer motivation, behavior and is technically adept to collect and analyze the right information to satiate that curiosity. The research you lead will immediately inform the opportunities the labs goes after and directly will impact the product and services the labs builds.
About the Role:
Work on product teams to identify research plans that discover nuanced views into the customer and provide actionable product feedback.
Design research studies that address user behaviors, attitudes and unpack the why behind their actions.
Generate insights that fuel product ideation and help teams evaluate their designs.
Conduct research using a wide variety of qualitative and quantitative methods, with an expertise in qualitative tools + methods.
Work cross-functionally with design, product management and engineering in service of delivering new products and services.
Develop strategic landscapes, frameworks and typologies that guide the direction of a product team.
Communicate research results in compelling and creative ways that influence how decisions are made at the most senior product levels.
Passionate about using social psychology to inform product development
Human centered to the core and deeply interested in consumer insight
Comfortable performing analysis on large datasets and working with analytics tools
Analytical and driven by strategic approaches to problem solving
Detail obsessed and highly organized
Able to work accurately under tight deadlines
Excited to work in a fast-paced environment with constant change
Bachelor's Degree or military experience
At least 4 years of qualitative and user-centered design methods
At least 1 year of quantitative, behavioral analysis, and statistical concepts
